I've seen SOAP on here and now in other places.. can someone explain what it is to me like I'm drunk?

Easy - Being drunk, you are already on the right track.

Just keep drinking until you start to vomit. Now try to communicate with another person while you are vomiting.

That's SOAP - a lot of effort, a big mess, and you're not really sure what has been accomplished, if anything, but you are sure you feel better when it's over. 😎

SOAP is that stuff you get clean with is it not?
ok so no but that SOAP leaves a nice smell after use at least.

it’s at its simplest sending XML between systems.

usually the worst pain in my ass as a developer, and i write PHP for a living!

@cdrice my night would've been less frustrating had i been drunk. I was just so tired I felt drunk

^ you should probably have some REST then :p

    I'll let myself out.

    REST.

    Nice. Lol

Some kind of XML based fuckery where you have to spend 2 hours generating stuff to communicate with the service.

I wonder what advantages it has over REST ? Like, I know you can specify some restriction on the data you require but come on, it's way to much work for that !

    @taylorviktorya @Alfer

The advantage SOAP has is that if you yell the letters "w s d l!" in-between vomits, the toilet will direct you to aim properly into the bowl.

Well, that's assuming it's using the same protocol version and data extensions that you understand, otherwise you might end up standing in the shower. Of the house next door.

Although you might find a more useful version of "soap" in the shower (@C0D4's version), so that might work out for the best...

In a tech context, if you drop the SOAP you're probably /less/ likely to get fucked up the arse.

@cdrice do you yell them at the same time, or one per break?? Lol

@taylorviktorya All at once - the wsdl query must be made in a single request, I believe. 😎
