PRein11877yA friend gave me a balloon full of flower. Like a barbaron. It worked miracles until it got a hole in it.
I myself am looking for something squishy to replace it with. -
My wrist rest that's also a stress toy... =) every time someone shows up at the office and I have to talk to them I grab it and start squeezing it uncontrollably while looking like a complete asshole... They never stay long nor make much sense. Works every time.

One of those 'expandaballs' sits on my desk, along with a pile of square paper for origami. Occasionally I'll have a small Lego set to keep me occupied during test runs.

Check out this 5mm neodymium magnet spheres. You usually buy 6^3 of them to make a cube, and there are a shit ton of other more or less artistic structure that can be made. And it's sooooo satisfying to pull on one magnet and have a string of them forming behind it while pulling further away...

@Alt-Grrr my boss does this to me. I fucking hate clicky pens. @ChipND I love my cube, I fully support this

DelError5277yMy colleague actually uses a fidget spinner.
I must say: it's nice. I personally don't feel disturbed by the sound (such a regularly sound that you just blend it out).
Sometimes I even borrowed it for a few minutes.
But because I realized I have no real stress toy, and sometimes use a clicky pen (or even chew on my pen) i now have a stress ball. -
I have a metal figet spinner, 10 AUD. The sound does not disturb me and there is a neat sensation from when it spins.

bowl627yEver since I was in FIRST Robotics in high school I've kept a rocker switch by my desk as a fidget toy. It's so satisfying.

Rubik's cube is always there. I'm hungarian so it's required. 😀 And I have a dragon too. His name is Phaarturnax.

askerad2377yI have a lego minifigure on my key chain. you can mess with it's leg and arms. Only problem is : it's on my keychain, so it still makes some noise ...
-
c3ypt1c99057y@PRein I've made something like that before... Turns out sucking hard on it breaks open a hole and fills your lungs with flower... xD
-
I have 5 Rubik's cubes next to my desk. A normal one, a transparent one, a 4x4, one with 12 sides and a mirror cube
-
@Deserter I tried that, but it turns out that life is totally devoid of meaning, nothing we do truly matters, and everything will be lost at some point.
Hence the need to fidget. -
freakko6367yI have a can of Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty. It's like playdough but more viscous; you have to squeeze it pretty hard to deform. They have all kinds of crazy versions. Mine changes color as it heats up.

cr782817yOn my desk i have a rubiks cube and a fidget spinner (which i got as a present as a joke)
Fidget spinners are stupid.
But what do you have on your desk instead?
The challenge of a Rubik's Cube? A classic Newtons Cradle? A stack of empty pizza boxes? Magnets, because how do they work? The one and only devRant stress ball?
I'm looking for something to mess with when I'm staring in disbelief at horrible PRs.
Preferably something semi-creative, tactile and stress-relieving. The three-dimensional material equivalent of the doodle.
Something which is less annoying for coworkers than the clicky switches in my keyboard. And a bit more appropriate than my genitals.
