I enjoy coding. Whether it's a language I know or learning a new one. The problem is that I can't actually focus on a language to master or decide on a career path.

I perfectly feel you on this one... I mean I'm not even sure whether I wanna work in the industry or in academia, at least I'm sure I wanna study CS 😅

Ive had this for a lomg time so I found a company which fits me. Its a webdev company but I told them I like to develop apps and games as well. They are looking for those projects as well now.

Assembly. The most practical, you can build anything. Easy peasy.

Just pick one and stick with it for a while. Personal favorite: Kotlin. I would also spend some time with Elixir and Erlang/OTP.

I would say language doesn't really matter. They're all good for something (mostly) and not so good for other things.
I think you need to worry more about things like design patterns and algorithms because they ubiquitous across all languages.
Just learn the language that's suits your project best 😀.

@TreeBeard that's fair, but I think being able to think of the ideas indpendantly of a lanague is better. Maybe it's just me but abstracting the design from syntax is important, gotta stay dynamic.
I should say that proficiency in at least one language is important.

I already commented, but I might tell you my approach: for each complex enough task I create a DSL and a compiler for it.
This means, that I can solve every problem with a language specifically designed for it and for me.
To port my program to another platform, I just have to add code generators to the compiler and don't even have to touch the DSL codebase.
But in order to write code like this, you have to be very good (read productive) at compiler architecture. Otherwise you very likely end up with more work than required.

If you want to get a child you look at what character you want how you want him to look. So you search for the stack that fits your needs. Sure everytime you fuck someone else you get better at fucking. But if you want your child to grow up in a stable environment stick with one stack.
