what an absolute condescending garbage post...

"brilliant coder who can't meet a deadline"? well, you're the idiot right there, you just admitted it - they are brilliant and you don't know how to set deadlines

imagine labeling someone who can't meet a workload DIFFICULT! god this is making me fucking fume

"normal management" - yeah this is normal management alright, treating everyone like they don't know what they are doing and expecting them to follow you blindly, sounds pretty normal to me

it's shit like this that leads to cocky ass young dumb managers who actually don't know shit about building a product themselves, but then turn around and think they instead have the ability to manage a team to do it... incredible

    Isn't he saying that people are different and require different management strategies?

    I sometimes struggle with deadlines, I don't always like teamwork, and sometimes I am a bit negative. My manager understands this and adjusts accordingly.

    @Demolishun You'd think, but the whole post just stinks of toxicity

    its the whole super overly positive type toxicity where "we'll always manage! cuz i'm the manager and i have amazingly managed plans!" and as soon as something doesnt work out, you setup up witch hunt triage to figure out what or how there is a more technically competant person there is to blame

    idk, i just don't like people, so take my words with a grain of salt

    Maybe you could provide the context so we can actually draw our own conclusions and not just take your personal truth for granted?

    @fullstackcircus

    I am all for not liking people! Some people rub me wrong. Then I spend time trying to figure out why.

    @ScriptCoded it's here; getting enough traffic that Google Discover was showing it to me: https://vadimkravcenko.com/shorts/...

    The plebes often require us to adjust our expectations to govern their malfeasance...

    @Demolishun took me 5+ years into my career to notice this.

    now i control it with the drink

    lol, he starts out by calling devs snowflakes and wonders why people object to that article. Are the highlighted quotes his?
  • 1
    @Demolishun the only thing i will grant him is that this is the most genius "trump style" of marketing - infuriate half of the population (the engineers) and get the other half (pompous managers) to nod in agreement

    @fullstackcircus the comments are interesting:

    "I have changed the word deviant to “atypical”, as I’d like to emphasize that some people require more effort."

    After reading the comments and his interactions to the commenters. Then I agree he is a right cunt.

    Verdict: not that toxic. OP just wanted to get angry at sth today.

    @Demolishun as it should be

    I honestly do not see the condescending tone at the post, like at all. Maybe you can provide the link and we can evaluate everything?

    Developers like to think that they are above and beyond everyone else really, have met multiple ones during the span of my career, have met many....MANY difficult people, so I am curious about the rest of the post.

    Most people in this forum, and across the world are dealing with web-dev, the lowest form of programming imaginable, so I am always curious concerning the better-than-you attitude. WE ain't doing rocket science, but over-glorified CRUD shit

    Unrelated to this post, but I've been thinking about making a video on my channel pointing out the double standards of employees and management.

    But then I'll get cancelled into oblivion if I do that.

    @AleCx04 the link is above. the guy reeks of total smugness, his company will not last long
  • 0
    @SidTheITGuy i wouldn't worry about that for a second, any manager types that would be offended are all too busy sharing fake clout stories on linkedin, they wouldn't for a second consider actually learning a small percentage of what their engineers do on a daily basis; wouldn't have to worry about them visiting your channel

    @Demolishun I've been single a long time... Starting to wish anyone would rub me at all

    Management is the most unnecessarily thing ever. Why must I report to a senior, who reports to a team lead, who reports to the manager, who reports to the ops director, who reports to the managing director?

    In a company totaling 80 staff
  • 2
    @TheBeardedOne that’s definitely too many hierarchical levels for that company size.
    I’m in a huge ass company and it’s much, mich flatter.

    This snippet alone doesn't seem bad.

    You should've linked to the full thing https://vadimkravcenko.com/shorts/..... The title alone makes me annoyed.

    But I can totally recognize some of the personas who would be brilliant coders but miss a deadline, like the Perfectionist who has a working solution but attempts a last minute rewrite for some insignificant gain.
