Client just recently called and complained why the system is slow. Luckily, we have the smartest software implementor and asked the client to check the speed of the internet. And there you go, client's net con speed is 145kbps. -_-

Small random update regarding my ISP and how they call your speed if you use all of your data.

I actually sent them a small complaint (more of a suggestion but) that 256 Kbps is just too slow even for a capped penalty speed and that at least 1 Mbps so that the internet is still usable but still slow... And mother fucker if that isn't exactly what they did!

It's nice being able to sync my code and have more than 1 device connected to the wifi at once... It's a strange feeling when a company actually listens to feedback and takes measures on them...

My bandwidth is ordinarily a few hundred kbps, but whenever I torrent it can reach up to 2 mbps, while all other traffic from me and my housemates is stuck in the single digit kbps range.

What does BitTorrent do so fucking well, and how can other protocols replicate this success? Would the total available bandwidth be different if every protocol did whatever enables BitTorrent to summon bandwidth from thin air?
