@jestdotty that’s 100% the vibe I was getting, wish people would just be productive and bring the best productivity out in others sometimes!
-
@john-doe it’s all of the question marks insinuating that I’m ignoring them or something..
Just found it odd that it’s never happened before then this week everyone’s being so passive aggressive with the ?????!? -
Very relatable 🤣
-
@fast-nop damn! There goes my weekend plans 😂
-
@fast-nop if not using can you post to me.. I mean.. my friend?
-
I think we have the same manager 🤣
-
@hjk101 unfortunately it was one of those deals that was verbally agreed with a long term manager that I had massive respect and trust for but was only loosely referred to in official documents.
This manager moved to another department and no longer has a say in what happened.
Update since the original post, I have now had a portion of the raise and it will be back paid 3 of the 8 months. So I'm taking the money and running 😂 -
@AmyShackles the two manager comments were 1 in teams and 1 email 😂
If I reference hard evidence of what he said it's still somehow my fault -
I can relate, I also anxiously picked up react not long ago to test the water with a bit of JS to pair with my mainly PHP stuff.. it feels nice 😃 but I realise there's still so far to go for me!
-
I'm approaching 8 months late on my agreed pay rise.. if I wasn't mid house purchase then I would have been out after the first few weeks delay.. can't wait for the house to complete then I'm gone too 😃
-
Are CSS Devs really a thing? Front end is a thing and CSS is an add-on skill that they also do, if they can do it more efficiently with tailwind then go for it
-
Yes, seems legit
-
I will give you a ++ for your troubles 👍🏼
-
@petergriffin oh wow! Courtesy is nice but sometimes there are emergencies.. in which case I'd say good morning and then briefly explain the issue
I wouldn't send just a "Hi" to trick someone into replying because that's all these messages are.. the idea that if I reply to their hi, then I must be available to sort their (usually) trivial issue and jumping the ticket queue -
@intrusioncm this is too relatable 🤣
-
The interviewer then may tell you off for using the wrong tag as I know that's popular here at devrant :)
-
Do you actually get yelled at while at work? That's one thing I'd just get up and walk out if it happened, nobody gets paid enough to put up with disrespect
-
@asgs the guy that sent the email in, if they're getting 99 people to chase me on something then I'll reply to them, no point replying to them as well, just let me finish the task then I'll update you when it's done 😂
-
@electrineer 😂
-
@iswiminthec congrats bro you're the man!! I'm actually in the final 3 weeks of my master's in CS, it's improved me as a software engineer so much more than I ever expected, you're gonna do great 👍🏼
-
There is still a possibility that maybe he was intending to discuss some things with you then his plans changed, maybe?
Just overall lack of communication, so the norm in my experiences -
I put tldr at the top so they can see if it's interesting and if it is they can read more about it
-
The easiest way to do it would be to pay me to do it. Not the cheapest, but easy ☺️
Alternatively, opencart and laravel aimeos are super easy to get going with decent docs -
@homo-lorens unfortunately my oppressors/employer is one with full control over what gets installed on my work laptop 😂 but that's largely to do we the secretive and heavily audited industry I work in, I'm very jealous when reading a lot of the people on here getting near enough free reign to install the software they need to do their jobs, I'm told to make do until something gets approved for install
-
@Cyanide 🙊🦥🙋🏼 some just for you! I think sometimes we all need to channel our inner emoji
-
I gave in my notice at a company and the boss gave me a month's worth of stupid comments trying to make me feel worthless and unskilled, like I didn't deserve the job I had been offered
I knew that I absolutely deserved it otherwise I wouldn't have passed the interviews or been offered the position 😂 in the end he just looked like a dickhead to the rest of the company
Doesn't matter who it is, if someone's bettering themselves or looking to improve their future, it's their choice. I personally would be more likely to reconsider leaving if I'm shown the positives of being there, not the negatives -
On a side note, I'm hoping to post a link to my project open source after my MSc is completed in a few months, if you're interested in checking it out 😃
-
@mundo03 as a Systems Engineer I also see my peers (and have even been asked to myself) modifying values that really shouldn't be touched, it's a shame but people will always try to cover their own backs to help themselves in the short term.. even if it hinders long term improvement opportunities. I'd also like to add that it was my current employer that first mentioned the idea of creating a MES that uses blockchain to me, although this was my only "cool" manager in a company of 800+. Many are stuck in their old ways of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
@rov3rand0m no problem at all, I'm glad I could shed some light at least ☺️ I do get what you mean though, there are a lot of people really trying to push blockchain as the one mega solution for everything, which obviously it is not. However, in many projects, I honestly believe it can be a huge asset -
Great work bro, keep up the side projects alongside your work, don't let the man get you down and kill that passion 😋
-
@rov3rand0m the way that I see it is a MES (using my example) that uses a database will rely on the end customer or auditing body to trust everyone that has write permissions to the DB. But with blockchain, there is no requirement to trust anybody since it is practically impossible to edit any historical entries, resulting in an unquestionable historical trace of actions.
So if we don't need to trust then surely that's better than just hoping that the company has given the relevant users their correct DB permissions, wouldn't you agree?
Regarding your request for the solution using Blockchains, I'm not sure how familiar you are with the tech so please don't be offended if you know this already. Where a DB may have a TransactionStatuses table which has one entry that gets edited each time a product completes an action, a blockchain approach will instead add an extra block, similar to a record for each new action. Allowing anybody to look back chronologically to its previous states
