A client asked me to work on a new website for them. They setup a WordPress site with a basic theme and asked for the following additions:
- Job application system
- Employee management
- Employee scheduling/holidays
- Online clock-in/out and pay calculation
- Training videos/modules for employees with progress tracking
And their budget... $75

So once again, I'm planning for a new website I'm developing, a little side project. I tend to put pen to paper and map out what features I want to include and see where that goes.
It's got me thinking how everyone else likes to plan for their personal projects and if I'm missing a trick?2 -
I started by looking at existing code and then began to build my own tools and projects, then rebuilding until eventually I got to where I am at the minute. It's a constant learning process.

When I was in sixth form, I taught my friend how to create empty files using Python. He soon learnt that you could get around the quota enforcer this way.
He was curious to see what would happen if you filled the entire drive to maximum so he ran the code for an ~8TB file. Before he could delete it, he was told to log off. Nobody could save their work and backups weren't performed for 24 hours.
It's safe to say they weren't impressed when they found this.9 -
My work experience in high school was manually adding hundreds of industrial rubber and PVC related products to an OpenCart store... With every specification and measurement...
The store never went live.
