Actually finish a proj.... Oh I'm sorry I got distracted and started a new projec... Oh look a bird...1
-
1) Build enough confidence to ask a girl out for a date.
2) find a girl to ask for a date.
3) ???
4) profit10 -
My goals:
- Resist the urge to kill my boss
- Graduate
- Remember, I'd be someone's bitch in prison so definitly don't murder my boss
- Find an amazing new job
- Work in new job for some years to avoid suspicion, then kill former boss..8 -
Non dev related but: release my first track 😊
I'd love to create something which is near musical perfection for myself 😃
There's a couple of tracks which come close for me but not 99 percent yet.36 -
Never gonna happen:
* Port our API to graphql. Or even make it just vaguely rest-compliant. Or even just vaguely consistent.
* Migrate from mysql to postgres. Or any sane database.
* Switch codebase from PHP to... well, anything else.
* Teach coworkers to not commit passwords, API keys, etc.
* Teach coworkers to write serious commit messages instead of emoji spam
* Get a silent work environment.
* Get my office to serve better snacks than fermented quinoa spinach bars and raw goat milk kale smoothies
* Find an open source IDE with good framework magic support. Jetbrains, I'll give you my left testicle if you join the light side of the force.
* Buy 2x3 equally sized displays. I'm using 6, but they're various sizes/resolutions.
* Master Rust.
* Finish building my house. I completely replaced the roof, but still have to dig out a cellar (to hide my dead coworkers).
* Repair/replace the foundation of my house (I think Rust is easier)
* Get slim and muscular.
Realistically:
* Get a comfortable salary increase, focus more on platform infrastructure, data design, coaching
* Get fat(ter). Eating, sitting, gaming, coding and sleeping are my hobbies after all.
* Save up for the inevitable mental breakdown-induced retirement.13 -
Get my hunter license.
Become the pirate king.
An anime adaptation before we are 18.
Liberate Japan from Britannia.
Get Kokonotsu to take over the candy shop.
Kill my teacher before he wipes out humanity.
Kill all the kabane.
Kill all the titans.20 -
1.) Start a small business
2.) Complete my game
3.) Graduate
4.) Get a good University for Masters2 -
Dev related: To actually finish my projects instead of working on different ones, and end up finishing nothing.
I said I was going to create my own operating system. I started it, but barely. I haven't touched the compiler I was working on for months. Oh, and I'm working on an android app related to writing. I started it a while back, and never got to finish it.
My need to stop starting new projects, because if I keep doing this, I'll never finish anything.
Non dev related: To get my manuscript out of the slush pile, and finally published. It's currently in the dreadful querying process.4 -
0. Get a raise
1. Nove out
2. Learn GoLang
3. Have a threesome
4. More weed
5. Build a blockchain project6 -
I'm seeing a pattern here... We devs/testers/sysadmins/etc. don't get to spend too much time outside... We talk about different stuff than most people... We are more intelligent than most people so we don't get their dumb jokes... Most of us like to work at night because that's the time when nobody bothers us...
We don't get a chance to find a girlfriend, we don't understand how it works...
We are doomed13 -
1. Finally publish some of my open source projects.
2. Career progression (move to more of a tech leadership role).

* learn to draw just a little (for my game dev)4 -

TL;DR I want to watch videos faster.
Siraj Raval, a YouTuber who produces videos about artificial intelligence and the concepts behind it (not the buzz-shit-type 😜), once said in one of his videos that he learned to watch videos three times faster.
This man has truly changed my life in many ways.😯
I've started with watching videos with slight multipliers. Around half a year later I learned to watch videos with a multiplier between 1.75 and 2.5.
It's really incredible how much time one can save like this.
25min of free time? Let me just watch that 40min talk about event-driven programming real quick!
Don't do that with gameplays, series, anime and other types of videos 😏 you watch for entertainment because it kinda defies the concept of entertainment.

Papa tutu tutu tu Wawa:
https://youtu.be/6PJIF_KNvqQ14 -
- graduate
- get a C# certification
- finish all my current projects
- start working
!dev : put some money aside1 -
1. Manage my time better.
2. Find motivation to wake up and go to work.
3. Fake more smiles.
4. Kick ass hole (L)users in the throat when they piss me off...
5. Attend anger management.
6. Stop making shit lists.
In all honestly I need to dedicate more time to my personal clients and stop allowing my primary job’s frustration to drain my motivation to take care of their needs. It’s not fair to them that I chose the life I have. Find myself and attempt to love myself again. Create more time to focus on my health and goals. Surround myself with people that have goals and want to better their life. Find someone to share life with.
Then, with my luck; throw it all away and repeat these steps like a broken record. -
Make a Linux handheld device using a raspberry pi zero, a display, a battery and a keyboard, so I always have a Linux terminal with me.

Who decides the question of the week? its 100 weeks of devrant i guess, this monday.
@dfox Should have a party and poll on it3 -
Learn about
-Cyber Security
-Machine Learning (especially Reinforcement Learning & GANs)
-Microcontrollers (ATtiny)
Of course I want to finish the projects I'm currently working on and maybe start a YouTube channel about my projects.
Yes I know, it's quite a lot to do, but I don't know if I will ever have the chance to do all that things in my free time again. -
What I wish to achieve before wk200? For sure learning Rust properly and possibly D. Not going to lie though, I also have quite a few projects deserving a rewrite...

Create my own company and finally release my app. Quit my current job and eventually start doing whatever the fuck I WANT rather than whatever the fuck I HAVE to.

1) Keep improving Java skills
2) Keep learning Python
3) Learn Docker
4) Finally use my Raspberry Pi -
Definitely to finish my thesis. I now force myself to do at least a small part per day. At some day it will be such a natural part of my day that it will just write itself (hopefully).
But wk200 is a little late goal, I want to finish it this year ~wk130
Never give up, people. -
1. Get more fluent with c#
2. Move together with my girlfriend
3. Get my band started after a 2 year break

Before wk200 roles around I'd like to finish my little indie game. I'm using unity to create it and it's the first game I've ever made. It's been taking me a while but I'm hopeful.
Also happy wk100!4 -
Get replaced by an AI^WDeep ML device. That's coded for a 8051 and running on an emulator written in ActionScript, being executed on a container so trendy its hype hasn't started yet, on top of some forgotten cloud.
Then get called in to debug my replacement. -
So, in roughly 2 years?
- Having my driver licence
- Get my graduation (should be in a few months but still)
- Find another work
- Get a better pay
- Loose 40 kgs
- And a GF would be a bonus -
Things to accomplish within the next two years = [

That's all I can think of yet.5 -
Learn enough about 2D animation and game design to be able to make an RPG/interactive visualization of my favorite album.
(I currently know nothing about this lol.... so yeah ambitious)6 -
1. Study C and Python
2. Learn NLP and ML
3. Participate again in one hackathon and kick their ass after winning it
4. Get one awesome internship

Guess you guys don't care about goals like "losing weight" and that stuff. So my code-related goal is MASTER VUE.JS ONCE AND FOR ALL. Seriously, I need to start using it in production or I will keep wasting my time.2
-
Goals:
-> Write clean code
-> Never trust the code
-> Never use PHP
-> Stop procastinating

Get a better job and move out to Austin, TX; the next step towards my goal of one day starting my own company!1

Wanted to see myself working somewhere in EU as "AI / Machine Learning Engineer". Its a BIG DREAM.2

Pitching Preact for a client. They wanted us to use Dojo because they bought support for it and I was like OH HELL NO FUCK NO
-
I just come up with new business👔\projects💻 ideas, once in a while, without stop✋.

1. Finish my damn game engine.
2. Get my own company up and running with actual staff and funds.
3. Finish the game a friend and I are working on using said engine.

-
1- hope that Madagascar will be listed in Google Play when I try to register as a developer... 😭
2- upload many applications on Play Store 😍
3- working as an android developer with an average salary of $50,000 per year, not my actual shitty salary of $4,500 per year... 😒

Like the last 100 weeks:
1. Be a better person
2. Learn something new every day if you can.
3. Get older :( -
Saw this wk100 tag all over devrant so here are my goals :
1. Drop my current job with a shitty boss (working with Flash in 2018)
2. Work with one of my teacher
3. Find a girlfriend
4. Riding my bycicle every day

- Finish teaching my brother C#, F#, SQL
- Learn Xamarin better
- Actually use my programming skills to create useful tools for myself (and maybe my friends and family)
- Finally add one of my personal projects to GitHub -
Man I couldn't believe, whenever there's a rant of wk100 as a newcomer to devRant I couldn't understand anything, today I understood that this week is wk101.
So I joined devRant at wk100.
That's something. -
Buy dell, hp, lenovo and any other craptop company out there and fire all the numbnuts working there so that they slowly die of unemployment in the fucking gutters where their useless asses rightly belong. Oh and castrate them too so that they don't reproduce.
I'm considering going full Lannister on them but that might be too harsh.5 -
1. Learn Vue.js
2. Learn some backend framework or language like Express.js or ROR
3.Learn Mongo DB
4. Make a progressive web app
5. ???
6.profit? -
100 weeks is a long time, and I'm not even sure I'm gonna survive! But my roughly estimate is by:
- wk125; I've managed to live on my savings; Because I'll (try to) finish any project and just focus on my thesis.
- wk150; I've defended my thesis. Now I apply for PhD and get rejected.
- wk175; Begging for my last job to get hired again.
- wk200; Thanking myself for not buying bitcoins back then.
Probably I'll also manage to learn Go somewhere there.2 -
> lose weight
> get more than one client
> learn to drive and get a car
> try not to cry too much when I can’t afford the Tesla I want
> get my passport sorted and go on my first ever holiday (no joke). -
Master Javascript from A to Z.
Naah just kidding we all know that's impossible, I'll buy google instead.2 -
Learn more languages (programming and verbal wise), expand my knowledge beyond web technologies and build something with hardware, also get paid more.
-
2 years huh. well...
1.Have a side business
2.Build an IoT project for home.
3.Refactor my code (Im not saying I'm a bad coder but, if some of you saw my code, you'd probably want to strangle me to death in my sleep, so....)
4. And finally, maybe post a rant/reply with no spelling mistakes so that I don't have to edit that shit every fricking time after I post something. -
Turn my partner's idea into fruition. I'm trying GameMaker since the concept is a text based 2d game.1
-
I recently read that great programmers care more about algorithms than code. I hope I can find more time to devote to learning algorithms than spending it on yet another framework. #springboot.js1
-
Make a artificial consciousness program that spends its days complaining about stupid people. Drinking coffee and writing code. Sell it and make a butt load of money solving every problem ever.
-
As silly as it sounds, but migrating our company's web application from Ember/JSON API --> React/GraphQL would be a pretty solid achievement.
We're almost to read-only feature parity at the moment with a single developers side time as a proof of concept. -
Well the usual... You know... Create some android app, teach a friend to code, finally migrate to the gentoo on the other partition... Also maybe ask that one girl out :D
-
Complete my Clojure POC and do a knowledge sharing session in work on Functional Programming. Also get promoted to Senior Software Engineer.
-
Spend more time on projects.
Upload & contribute on GitHub more.
Find a back-end job working with node. -
Really start with the band I planned with some friends.
Learn some useful electronics
Move to a bigger apartment with a retro and a hobby room.
There are lots of more ideas 😅1 -
-Contributing more to open source projects, honestly it's awesome.
-Get a laptop to make my life easier (I can't carry around my PC)
-Take more care of my health. -
To be out of this miserable shitty rut I'm in and build a stable life (I've just decided I'm definitely going to try and do this, I've had enough of this shit)
-
Fuck the organigram, I will do what I love to do, not what impresses people. Happiness over everything 👌🏻
-
To have passed my first 2 years in Software and Electronic Systems Engineering and have a good placement lined up for the 3rd year 😁
-
For the first time in my career, I have a specific job to aspire to, and a stack of books to read and certifications to garner to make it happen.
I think 2 years is a perfectly achievable timeline to make it happen.1 -
- graduate from college
- live by myself
- release my first android app on the play store
- replace Windows with linux on my dev laptop
- get a job that I love1 -
Finish this one project which already takes way too long and like an onion there always appear new layers of fucked-up once I get through one of them.
-
* Ditch Java, Embrace Python
* Do my own thing
* Everest Base Camp
* Reduce monthly expenses, have some savings -
Well, first off I want to actually pass my college classes. You know, the classes I barely find interest in that seem to be very minimal in my coding skills.
Next, take up or join a project for the summer. You know, get my name out there.
Third, make money
Fourth, make something significant in the OSdev community. I absolutely love low-level dev. Now (to myself) Let's do this! -
- Get to expert level on all my preferred technologies
- Get to travel after graduation
- Strive for a better position at current company
- Contribute to interesting open-source projects
- Hope to not go insane in the process -
I forgot something on my previous rant.
1. Learn some backend language/framework (thinking about j2ee and frameworks)
2. Keep studying for university
3. Start and finish my project -
1. Finding what I really am
2. Time out for Travel out of country from work
3. Buy own Car
4. Marriage 😜 -
Get a girlfriend
Finish the first 200 project Euler exercises
Write some really cool shit
Get promoted -
Get over my anxiety and get an actual job in infosec, so I can stop hearing "can you hack my BF facebook" requests.
-
- Finish a few public projects.
- Finish creating my iOS development company.
- Master a few primary languages instead of having simple knowledge on a bunch.
- Resist the urge to tell my boss to fucking die. (He’s nice, but retarded.)
- Survive life
- Start selling my old projects and earning some money.
- Earn some money.
Just some of the goals I have. -
Become a 1st Fellow in my company (c-suite no thx) and align the business and technology strategy. When done, enjoy frequent trips to interesting places with friends and family and work with customers on the go.
-
Save enough from my current job to give me the buffer to go solo;
and it’s a cliche, but hopefully be making games -
Hopefully at work we have successfully migrated from a combination of MySQL and Mongo to only Postgres. Also we finally split up our monolith into medium sized services, so we can actually do something interesting and update our dependencies.
And port one of the services from Java Struts to Django..
..but that is only if developers were to set the plan...if sales/management: new feature here! new feature there! sell sell sell! No time for maintenance! -
!dev

5. Implement 32 hour days to have time to read all those books, listen all those podcasts, code all those katas... -
effin management always commiting something they didnt think through and now the team suffers the consequences of their stupid actions, one of them is that they fucking commited a night of development phase for a major code revision fuck that shit cause that major revision also came for their fucking lack of analysis and mediocre mindset during the requirements gathering phase fuck that
-
