I look forward to the day that most jobs atleast in the tech industry are remote jobs so that you don't have to spend half the day in traveling and other unnecessary bullshit related to workplaces.

Well the first time I coded a proper algorithm in my job was when I created a download queuing system for my company's Android app. It vastly improved download times in comparison to what our the app was previously using.

For the past one week I have been getting late for work due to this fucking traffic. This shit sucks. And I am stuck solving shitty bugs in a fuckghetti code. I feel burnt out as fuck and now I have to work Saturday as well.

Fuck you Android ! Why the fuck does making my fucking status bar transparent has to be more difficult than launching a mars mission with a team of chimpanzees. I have been trying everything from xml styles to fucking java code but the status bar won't take the tint. Been at this fucking shit for 2 days

That moment when you are working on your game. Then you remember all those games you bought cheap on steam but can't enjoy cause you don't have a good enough PC. Then you spend the next hour looking up PC components for a gaming PC that you can't afford and feel sad. And then you realise you haven't coded much anything in your own game. Why procrastination why?

Coding has caused a paradigm shift in the way I look at the world. Previously I would look at something and be amazed as to how it happened or was made and then depressed because I would think such things could only be done by geniuses and not by me. Now, I know that complex things are made up of many simple things and anything complex can be kind of deconstructed with enough understanding. Its an empowering feeling knowing that I can create something amaizng.

Development environments , OS and even languages may change but as long as I got my Sennheisers I can say "Bring it on baby"

Understanding legacy code in first glance.

Some of the rants this week have been really touching and amazing. This small community holds within itself so many amazing stories.
The most intense day for me was my last day at my first job. It was sad to see some of the best developers I had personally known for the last time. I learnt a lot there and had some really fabulous moments.

A.I steals my job; introduce devRant to A.I; A.I gets too busy ranting about all the stupid shit humans have messed up; Get my job back.

Selecting the music to code to. As a matter of fact I just wasted more than an hour looking for the right song and now I am wasting more time ranting about it on devRant.

Well on my first job we had to integrate payment gateways in client apps for online payment. On my second week in office I published an app on the play store with payment gateway credentials for a different client cause they were there as default values. So the money for one client would go to the other. Nobody noticed it for two weeks and when they did, I thought I had just lost my job and also I would now have to pay all the losses out of my pocket but fortunately I didn't have to cause no transactions​ had yet been made. After that I always checked my integrations atleast five times before publishing. The incident scared the shit out of me but taught me the value of developer responsibility.

My home is under renovation and so my desktop is disassembled and in the box for more than a week now . I feel depressed, aimless and meaningless.

I always forget to commit my changes and then when someone reminds me, I usually commit 1 weeks work in one single commit.

How about ' What tech/framework/language do you trust will truly stand the test of time' ? Sorry if someone has already suggested this but I would love to see opinions.

I started reading Thinking in Java a month back on the advice of a senior dev. But it's a damn big book and most of the things feel like basics I know. Has anyone read it completely and would you recommend I read it?

Do bootcamps include online sites like Coursera and Treehouse? Cause when I graduated from a CS degree I still couldn't code properly. I learnt from sites like these and got my first job. But the thing is what they teach you isn't even the tip of the iceberg let alone helping you master the technology. For that you gotta go out on your own.

Who else agrees that the play store should have a section which tells if an app needs a mandatory login to use it ? Like why the hell does a simple offline planner todo app need you to sign-up if you don't wanna use cloud backup. Jeez the user just trusted you by spending valuable time and bandwidth downloading your app. You owe it to him to show him some features of the app before shoving a sign up in his face. As an app developer myself I really think that this kind of behaviour turns off more users than anything else.

Ever since I started a hobby project with a commitment to make atleast one commit to it everyday, no matter what and no matter how small, coding has become a truly fun past time. And 3 months in, my project is beautifully taking shape
