Two mobile devs were talking for 10 minutes in this zoom meeting whether "the component on the bottom should be hidden, or made sticky".
I just could not contain my laughter any longer when they showed an animated mockup comparison, and the product manager yelled excitedly: "Oh yeah, I love the one where it's very visible and sticky! But could you make it bigger for me?"
Sorry HR. I will never become a grown up boy.5 -
Another day, another company that doesn’t live up to its own hype.
This time interviewing for a company that only want people who are willing to start with the language they currently know but learn other programming languages and not shy away from new things.
Brilliant, I’m up for that. I love learning and want to be at a place that values learning. I’ve got 20+ years of experience and I’ve learnt all sorts in that time to stay relevant. Currently I’m a c# dev, but I’ve worked on projects using JavaScript & Typescript, Angular, React etc. Done front end and back end, taught myself mongo and architecture. Point is that I have a proven track record of learning.
To cut a long story short, they give me a .net test. Nothing special about it. I have a 4 hour chat. And a week later I’m rejected because I don’t do Python. WTF?!
I thought this place was all about allowing people to learn if they were willing, not about what they know right now. I’m calling bullshit.7 -
Got some Freelance work(PHP) via my friend so i said ok lets see. Those were some college students and wanted their project to be deployed that their seniors built and none of them knew how to fix the issues so here i step in.
Nightmare of a design, no signs of framework, html/css looks like it was designed by a 10th grader, no prepared queries, every file uses db config seperately so a minor change would require me to edit those 50+ php files... overall a broken mess. FML.5 -
After realizing that I am burnout from working, I soon realize that you should not go above and beyond when working, they will always expect you to work like that and be disappointed if you did a minor mistake.3

I worked(as intern) 6 months on a startup and helped them sell a cool e-commerce chatbot, then I again worked(as intern) 4 months on another startup and helped them sell nice AR app. And again another recruiter comes in my chatbox and asks me whether I am available for internship. I am also doing another internship from 1 months. What the hell is wrong with my career?4

Marketing: so we want it to behave like this website, so it'll have to have feature A, B, C and D.
Me: okay that might take a day or two.
Marketing: what? can't you just copy-paste the code from that website?8
