@ZioCain where would that be bro? I live in Arezzo and as middle dev, salaries are nowhere near that
-
@Crost I appreciate the thought but he was the CTO of this big Luxory firm, basically untouchable
-
I flunked an interview only once in my entire career (albeit a very short one, mind you). That was when I interviewed for a big Luxory / Fashion company based in Tuscany, Italy. They tried to break my spirit in every "legal" way possible in order to see what my true colours were and I'm ashamed to say that they indeed made a breakthrough pretty easily...so I never got hired. The bastards even went as far as saying that the university I had attended was re known for being the "easy one" lazy people would go to in order to get a degree. That really hurt me and I guess it showed.
Apart from that I was always successful. The trick was being completely honest whenever I didn't know a stack or technology by simply stating that I was willing to put my everything into learning that or whatever they expected for me to be working with.
Also, yeah, I would say to study the company mission, and be ready for some subtle flattery to send their way. That works like a charm. -
And here I'm, an Italian developer in Italy, getting paid 25k to work with Java 8.
That hurt a little. -
@Demolishun "Tik Tok...not even once"
-
I admire your tenacity. I would have probably exploded and made somewhat of a scene exposing all of the bullshit you are going through. Some things simply cannot be tolerated, no one should be treated as such
-
@Grumm what I meant is more akin to the following: the level of commitment varies between the (acceptable) bare minimum to really strive to make things better depending on the project.
Let's say you're given a legacy project. Bloated, quasi-impossibile to manage and improve upon and that's the only thing you do all day. Your commitment will be slowly chipped away at, one piece at a time. That's what I meant. However, that's not true if projects are balanced (e.g. one super bad project + a modern, new one).
Maybe I'm not actually understating the definition of "quiet quitting" but I don't think I'm too off the mark here -
Well... You give me a shitty project, I do the bare minimum to keep it afloat. You give me a cool project, I strive and work hard to make it as good as possibile.
That's it, folks! -
6 - 8. It's usually more around 6,5 or 7.
I feel like I sleep very little but you guys seems to be doing just the same. Is it a common developer's trait to not usually oversleep? -
How about a small check box stating "I've acknowledge the above info" that should be checked before selecting either the Yes or No options?
-
In private? A lot of cursing.
In public? A lot of silent cursing. -
Only for the Italian average Serie A fan.
-
@Voxera I lived in Västerås for a couple of months back in early 2010s and you guys are very lucky to be working and living in Sweden
-
By reference or by value...? 😄
-
Holy cow! That looks a lot like the cubicle I used to sit in working for Prada in their Tuscan offices.
The only thing missing would be Prada owner Bertelli arriving just before the office's windows landing via chopper. (Try story) -
Max Payne 2? Is that a pun or something? 😁
-
@NoMad right...behind...you 👻

Well, to all the cryptominers out there, I've got a message for you lot: thanks for the GPU shortage and the price inflation, you assholes!
I'd say, good riddance.
Sincerely,
Someone who wants to build his own fucking gaming rig. -
You guys have friends?
-
@Katakompe that's likely because by writing it down trying to get your message across you understand the issue in a more simple way, thus getting to the point that a solution is at your reach.
-
If you're in the OOP realm, you could always be passing it an object containing properties about said booleans. This way, the method's own signature won't risk exponential growth once the fucked up logic degenerates further.

A language predisposition towards a certain type of words being either more masculine or more feminine should not be an issue. Issues arise when words and expressions are used in a derogatory way. Languages should not change based on a perceived inherent "discrimination" of sort as it is the intented use of a certain word that gives that term its connotation. I could say the word "friend" in many different ways based on tone alone and that would change the perceived emotion to which it correlates to.
This is just my opinion. I'm not part of any minority so I might be biased in a way but I'm also a sucker for languages in general and this over exaggeration is not playing well with me. I hope I didn't come across as an insensitive jerk. -
@netikras that question would be slightly humouros for any italian ahaha.
FICA takes It all from the Italian working man as well. -
I had a somewhat similar experience three years ago. It's amazing how they have never fixed the issue.
I've got a solution for you: don't stream from a laptop or anything of the sort. Either use a smartphone + Chromecast combinaton or buy a smart TV.
There's no other way. -
@IntrusionCM i Guess that's doesn't translate at all from the Italian web slang I'm used to :D
Anyhow, a "semicit." is a quote with a twist. A semi-quote, if you will. I went for "citation" instead of "quote", my bad eheh -
Wait...you guys have hair?? (Semicit.)
-
Well, I made pasta today. So, enjoy ahah
-
Guys...guys! I'm italian and you are making me extremely hungry. Please stop, It's already past lunch time in here.

The problem with SignalR is its awful connection management. It really gets disconnected way too often.
Sure, It has automatic reconnections but that's to a certain extent. After that, the disconnection is "final" and you need to manage It yourself. Not ideal.
