Is it only me or are many cs students left-handed?

I m left handed too :D

I can barely do anything useful with my left hand :(

I am also left handed... And I've noticed there is a bigger than usual percentage of lefties in IT in general.

Not a huge difference, but more than that 11% you usually hear about.

I'm left handed CS student as well.

In the world of right handed people I have adapted using mouse with right hand, playing guitar and drums with right handed setup etc...

Also lefty here and probably on the way to become a CS student, but very, very left-handed, like my right hand is imprecise as fuck... 😑

@theNox I have a short story to share. I'm born left handed. My mom had a theory that, left handed kids will end up having a bad handwriting (which is not true). So she taught me how to write using my right hand. And now, I'm both left handed and right handed!! Thanks to my mom!!

@EmptyStack that's actually cool, left-handed people do have some advantages because of this, but I really noticed that left handed people tend to have a different handwriting, not necessarily uglier though

@theNox Yes, handwriting with my left hand is entirely different when compared to the one from my right hand. But like I said, my mom was wrong!

I'm not a cs student. I'm still in high school, but I'm left handed as well.

@Shivi I tried playing CSGO with the mouse in my left hand and right hand on the keyboard. I started fucking walking when I wanted to turn around!!!! (Maybe some practice required)

I think I heard some things about left handed people being more common in creative professions. Like music composition and such. Maybe thats why they are more common in CS as well?
I'm both handed. Yes a doctor tested me and came to that conclusion. He had some questions like with which hand do you brush your teeth. And I'm like doesn't everyone change the hand? Right side for the right side of the face and vice versa.
Also I was a stupid dumb kid and learnt to write with my left hand because left hand writing was special. I can write with both but I'm so much faster with my left hand although I smear it like an idiot.
I actually change hands when I have to write numbers or something that should look prettier.

P.S. I changed jerking hands 2 times in my life. Started with right. Had an injury on my right hand. Learnt it with left and did that for 4 years. Had a broken left arm. And since then back to the right hand again...

@Zennoe @ThatDude I always used my left hand for my mouse, except that now for around 7 years I've been using pretty much exclusively my MacBook trackpad with my left hand, so much so that I can't really play games with a mouse anymore and I in general use a computer better with a trackpad than with a mouse (I tried to, just for fun, play Minecraft with a mouse a few years ago when people were surprised I could play it with a trackpad, and I couldn't 🤣🤣)

Statistically it's not Only you, but I can't comment on the overall numbers. I'm right handed.

in my group of 8 from my class there is only one left-handed. Using this as a sample one could say only 1/8 of cs students are left-handed.

So it wasn't just my mind playing tricks on me, there are really many left handed people among people who do something IT or CS related

Hell everyone am right handed, I can't use my left for anything precise, but my right is so precise that I can play game with trackpad. But since I was a kid I heard that left handed people are more smart and I know 2 left handed people close and they are smart........well are you lefties??!!
