@Cyanide A 1975 Book by Douglas Hofstadter
Mainly about how thinking and a sense of "I" can arise in a system of many dumb parts (like neurons in a brain)
But it brilliantly covers so many other topics on the way. (amongst others Gödel's incompleteness theorem and it draws parallels to MC Eschers drawings and Bachs compositions)
Between every chapter there are dialogues between Achilles and the Tortoise which are so meta that the Wikipedia article for "meta" includes a section on Hofstadter (and another guy: quine)
It consists of a large section about computer science recursion and AI along with sample code (in lisp I think) and it's supposed to be popular with computer programmers.
(It features Turing and Babbage in a dialogue)
In one of the dialogues there is a GOD which means "GOD Of Dschin".
The book and Hofstadter are also referenced in a couple of XKCDs (like 917).
It's probably the best book I've ever read and you should check it out. -
@notarealDev Do you mean the book "Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid", 1979?
