Always thought a "scrolling distance"-counter would be neat on Facebook, so that people can realize how much scrolling they do. Not sure if I want that on devRant, though... 8)

From a UX perspective it doesn't make sense.

The same reason why there are no clocks in casinos - it encourages you to stay around longer by losing track of time.

Facebook wants you to spend as much time in the app, if you realize how much time you spent or how many items you've looked at you'd log off.

So it's not in their best interest

True, true, @xroad! It would be more of a wake-up-call feature to certain people I know, same as /played, tiii.me, steam ingame counter, c++ warning counter, todo list counter... you know... those painful values, reflecting a truth...

What would REALLY be a nice counter, is a time-saved-counter when you efficiently search and replace using sed and a clever regex.
