I have a burning hated for php (which boils down to personal preference), but I'd never say you're not a developer because you're using a language I don't like. Then again, my ego is in check. I bet that other person doesn't even have a job, lol.

I'm quite drawn to PHP. I really don't know why.

I don't think anyone ever chooses to work with PHP, it is just occasionally something you have to do.

php has improved a lot since the last 5 years. true it was full of bad practises and security flaws. but composer, php5.5++, laravel has changed the php world a lot. I get it if you didn't like something, but using something that you say better doesn't make you a better human than the other.
