When a girl joins your team as an Engineer and unleashes her badass coding skills, you look her up on the internet and notice she has 500k+ followers and is a former idol/singer. What do you do?

    Ask her out

    @devTea I second this.

    Add her to crush list, then focus on your code, who got time for this? You are devote for programming since your first hello world!!

    Jk..

    Have an smart talks with her, share few coding jokes.. little by little get to know her and ask her out

    She is very very pretty. I look like a train wreck on my best day. I tried to talk to her but words won't come out.

    My coworker saw me try hard. He asked me to eat lunch with him where he explained psychological techniques like she'll look at me if she hear or see something funny and that's a sign a she is interested in me, among other things.

    My coworker is a behavioral psychologist and a hacker. I'm not even sure if he's trolling me.

    @Frederick I will ask her if she wants to go to a cake shop on Friday.

    Wish there was scripts to build confidence.
  • 8
    @Zennoe you just friend-zone him for her ๐Ÿคฃ
  • 9
    If someone is that amazing, be happy you can even talk to her, learn everything you can and cherish the relationship even if it's casual. And be a good friend everyone needs that.

    Plus, she also probably has hot friends. Lol

    You can go out with her and her hot friends and use that backdrop to pick up other girls. Girls notice when you are surrounded by a group of sexy girls they ask themselves what is special about you. You will grow from the experience as a man.

    I know something you can do.....wake up from the dream

    I don't care about the question itself, I just want to see the whole question fit into the weekly banner
  • 13
    First, you close your mouth because you are wetting the floor with all that water coming out of your mouth.

    Second, you talk to her.

    This thread raises a point. What are people's thoughts about dating coworkers.
    I know it's discouraged in most places but coders in their pits aren't most places
  • 10
    @actualdragon also, don't be afraid to ask for her advice on how to get girls, this will make her put her guard down and realize you're not just trying to get something from her, and i bet she'll have a lot of great advice and want you to do well.

    Girls are amazing as friends.... and they do get jealous once you start gaining confidence and dating.. so... friendzones aren't necessarily forever ... as long as you actually get on with your life and date other girls and try to improve yourself.... the irony is that by the time you get there, you couldn't care less anymore about the initial girl that friendzoned you, which, paradoxically makes her want you even more, etc.

    YOU ARE THE ACTUAL FUCKING DRAGON ASKING ACTUAL FUCKING QUESTIONS!
  • 8
    Don’t shit where you eat. That’s what you fucking do.
  • 4
    @Zennoe well, sharing is caring .. ๐Ÿ˜…
  • 6
    "hey, nice code, good work, keep it up"
  • 1
    Ignore her and regain your confidence. Get out of her "territory..."
  • 1
    In these cases, you share the name with your fellow devranters ;p

    Haha just be you, if anything happens well if not also well.
  • 4
    Ask what license she likes.

    If not GPL - she is not good for you.
  • 3
    I show her this hypothetical and say, well that's a funny coincidence. Shrug my shoulders and go get another coffee. I have code to write.
  • 2
    Well, first things first, try not to act like a sexist jerk. I'm not saying you did or will but it's sometimes a thin line.
    Treating her like your other colleagues might be a good start for at least a sane working environment.

    Who cares about followers? There's plenty of girls out there that just get a couple hundred followers from just showing off their tits. Personally I've also got some 600 followers on Facebook and I think of it as "meh". However I created that following from skills, not looks.

    The result doesn't matter, the means by which it is created does.

    Edit: as for the singer / idol part; why not ask yourself why she made a career shift from that? I'd be genuinely interested, especially if she was successful at her previous career as an artist. Why would you want to shift from that career, for any reason that isn't excessive stress (which the tech world will give her too) or her slowly losing relevance similar to how Selena Gomez isn't very relevant anymore either these days?

    @fives I met my fiancée while working at the same restaurant. It worked out and we still work there. (I work there one day a week. My salary is ok but hey beer money!) If somehow it hadn’t, I couldn’t image dating anyone in my office.

    As her where does she put the curly brackets on a block of code
    If(condition){
    }

    Or

    If(condition)
    {
    }

    If it's the first one date her
    Else don't
  • 2
    What's her IG? Asking for, uh...a friend
  • 6
    You stab yourself in the eye to check if this is not a dream.

    Update: her boyfriend is our big boss's son. We went out for cake.

    It appears she had surgery recently and cannot sing anymore. She learned jQuery and build her own website back in the day. Now a junior reactjs developer and learning on the job.

    Respect.

    But I don't date devs who use 2 spaces to align.

    Ask her for tips on how to become as successful as she is at modeling.
    Also might ask her for some coding tips.
  • 3
    die();

    Say: "Girl, you're a perfect 9 because my arrays start at 0."
  • 2
    @Noob she was scouted by ALL48 (commonly known as AKB48) long ago. They are notorious for their witchcraft.

    It's cool. Plenty of other fish in the ocean.
