D-4got10-01254438dYou're also fucked if you happen to be sitting next to them while they're testing the game's audio, but they either have no headphones, or just refuse to use them.
In those cases, having your own headphones comes in handy. -

BordedDev304535dOoof let's hope it's a "first day" problem... audio issues are almost always the worst -

D-4got10-01254435d@BordedDev Yeah. Those fun ones include high-pitched noise when the game crashes && the settings being seemingly turned off, then some sound just blasts through the speakers because it wasn't included in some list && wouldn't abide by the settings. -

Wisecrack937619hThats a good metric to track on a per screen and per audio basis:
How long does it take a given tester/user to begin turning down the volume, both sfx, and music, on a given screen, and by how much?
You're testing for how grating the audio is over long-plays.
Playing music over a game may of course be normal user behavior, but it also impacts the ability to judge the user experience as intended. -

D-4got10-01254419h@Wisecrack This would be tricky, given testing w/ different Sound settings, or volume levels, if you will, is also a part of test scenarios. At some point, you also need to test SFX = && Music = 0; But some games have truly ear raping noise in them.

Me if i was a game dev
Once, we hired this one intern as a mobile games tester.
His first day on the job. He received his laptop for work.
He sits down by his desk, takes out his headphones, plugs them into the laptop, && starts playing his favorite music. _Now_ he can finally test the game in peace.
...the fuck?
I _get_ how testers can get sick of hearing the same crappy music, SFX, && other sounds listening to them day in && day out for days, weeks, months, etc. _This_ guy, however, pulls that shit on the first day?
Sadly, the lead either had never noticed that or had never taught the wannabe better.
Good thing !all testers are like that.
