I was asked to introduce some interns to software development and what it is about.

They are not IT interns, so I am wondering how can I explain what I do to them?

Any suggestions?

I usually start with simple html, css and a little bit of javascript whenever I introduce someone to software development

    This is a computer
This is a keyboard, with this, I can make that do things.

@norman70688 I was asked to do it and they signed NDAs.

Besides, these are interns of a client which our company works with... I can't be an asshole to them.

@irene You got it wrong. They are marketing interns of another company being given a tour in our company to see what a tech company does.

Marketing interns? Show them how software is developed?
    Hmmmmm.
R perhaps? maybe python with xmlsxwriter module example?

Show them testing, debugging and technical debt. That's what we need business to understand about software.

Just showing them some coding makes it all look clinical and straightforward. Then we complain when they are unrealistic in their assumptions when they become customers.

    Html css javascript imo.

Make a game, chessboard or that sink the boats war game.

And throw them on that website which has games you have to solve with code.

Ho yeah and git introduction because you dont want to loose anything ;)

@Reymann I was 8 years old, and wasn't even told that much my first time.

    Maybe I have high expectations.

@platypus that's what I was thinking and actually did.
It went well. They literally told me that they are astounded by the amount of work that devs do which people don't even know.
It was a nice win for the day 🤘
