the history of wordpress is I think proof that wordpress definitely is one of the reasons PHP has a bad reputation.
Don't know if it's still a latrine on fire, but it definitely was one during PHP 5 times. -

Why in the world is the localization function called ‘_e()’ ???
Does anyone know? Why in the world didn’t they go with something as ‘localize’ or ‘translate’ ?
