@Root guess not lol. Her code is a little better but she’s still an ass then lol

Root826003y@yesNo
You know those people where, no matter how clearly you try to communicate, they misunderstand you?
She would also insinuate things or make offhand insulting remarks without a second thought, and then act innocent and confused when I asked why or got annoyed with her over it. Some of this I chalked up to a language and culture barrier (though I’m honestly not sure if one exists).
But the biggest reason is that she repeatedly threw me under the bus in front of management, and was friendly and polite to me immediately afterwards in private. -
rittmann1053yLanguage and cultural barriers exists. I'm Brazilian and if we talk, how my english still is beginner or something like that, I will speak stuffs for you that can be offensive and you too, just because in my country this stuffs normal or little jokes as the word with N (we have 82828100182820 words to offend someone and it still can seems like a joke)

Man, I read the whole rant thinking that it read that you "really, really do get along with" her. I liked that version better, so I'll keep insisting it says so.

@electrineer certainly there is a sexual tension between the root and curry princess irl
-
@Root not a person I would try to socialize with honestly, I see your point completely. She sucks.
But her code tho, is she almost made you cry then that code has to live not one test of time, but thousands. -
Root826003y@OmerFlame It wasn’t nearly that good, but it was nice to see some clean code for a change. π
-
@Root lol luckily you don’t work with me bc I would wind up scaring the crap out of you hiding under your desk with my infamous killer clown mask during halloween parties lol
-
Root826003y@TeachMeCode My first reaction to scary surprises is to punch or throw something, so. Probably not the wisest idea? I’d apologize profusely afterwards!
-
Root826003y@theKarlisK That story always made me laugh because of his ingenuity and absolutely incredible amounts of not caring. And cringe a bit because China and the flagrant security issues.
In this case, though, it is actually her work; I recognize her wordy style and it’s in the same vein as her other work. Also it would have taken less time if it was outsourced π
But totally.
Respect given where due! -
If they’re Indian, there’s a good chance they’re smooching code off someone else. So don’t be too quick in giving credit.

@TeachMeCode I read this rant and was like nice. Then clicked on it to comment and saw it's Root. Well well well... I wish she considered me as her friend too :P
@Root finally a post highlighting that there exists a handful of us who are actually good. I am so done with this country already but those few good hearts and smart folks keep my faith alive.
Also how have you been? Settled with new house? -
kiki353273yI tend to write code fanatically. Because of my spectrum, I have a pathological attention to detail. Also, I never get along with other fanatics like me or anyone who aren’t really neurotypical.

Wholesome anti-rant.
There’s this Indian chick at work that I really, really do not get along with. Fortunately she’s on a different team so we have practically zero interactions. Her code was always decent, maybe upper junior level? but I went away fuming almost every time we talked.
However, I did a release security review today (I’m down from five/six per month to one) and read through quite a bit of her code. It was clean and easy to read with good separation, clear naming and intentions, nothing was confusing, etc. It was almost beautiful. Had I any emotions I might have shed a tear. I sent her a message and let her know :) I actually learned a better way of doing a couple of things from it.
She has grown so much as a dev.
