m0nk12414yI think the best would be "complemented by:"
Like but X and complement it by x1 x2 x3
Why complemented? Because it's not wholesome without... -
Voxera113884yWith ”customer facing” is it intended to be inspirational and to entice the customer to come back, like some promotion?
Or should it be after the fact descriptive as an extra bonus to the customer as sort of a reward?
If promotional you should think in terms on why logically linking the new purchase to the old will be seen as something positive.
What do the customer get out of doing it? -
m00gendai814yStaircase order, a take on L'esprit de l'escalier. At least in my case such orders happen when I forgot to order additional or related stuff and cant change the order anymore.
-
Voxera113884y@m0nk problem is that OP specified separate purchase, what you suggest is more what you use to get the customer to increase the current purchase by hinting that they want both ;)
Not trying to shot down the idea, just trying to figure out why the word is needed :) -
C0D4669024yWithout getting to descriptive....
Essentially, the customer places an order for a product - let's say a phone (as we do) and then returns say 2 weeks later to purchase let's say a case - for argument sake they didn't buy a case at the time, however the website pre-selects recommended cases based on the phone previously purchased, So during checkout we reference the previous phone orders details so the customer aware that the product being purchased is actually for the phone they ordered.
I need some kind of label for "this was your previous orders details"
More of a CX issue then anything. -
m0nk12414y@Voxera what I'm thinking is not leveraging the complementary items as an opportunity to increase current purchase, but more towards letting a customer know that hey you can complement your purchase with these options. (+Complement sounds like compliment, positive reinforcement but not forceful)
Also I think more important then wording in this case is how will the wording be represented...
Need a bit more info here @COD4 -
m0nk12414y"Accessorize"? Sounds a bit intense though.
Maybe you can say accessorize product with: ... -
@C0D4 this sounds a lot like the "you might also like .... " section in amazon.
Many shop platforms have implemented a similar feature.
Internal it's usually called product recommendations (or personal product recommendations if AI / behavioural analysis is involved)
External (as in the shop) a lot of platforms just took Amazon's "You might also like..." statement - for the psychological reason of most likely recognizing this feature.
Alternatives... If I remember "shopping psychology" (yes... Marketing. The dark side. ) the goal should be to formulate a sentence - as we read usually in zig zag and an unfinished sentence (yes... even the three dots at the end are intentional) the intention is to keep the users reading.
Note: my knowledge is now 7-8 years old from when I had to bring up a sales platform and they forced me to be in all meetings... Hence I remember this stuff cause I was bored to death. And listening to an marketing expert made the death wish even worse. -
C0D4669024y@IntrusionCM I seem to be expressing this the wrong way.
This is a niche platform, so normal e-commerce is about up / cross selling additional items, where as we already have the customer back after purchasing there "phone" and now selling a "case" pre-determined for that phone.
the platform would only be showing cases relevant to that phone, and the customer would be unable to view anything else, not your typical experience I know.
As part of the checkout (before paying) I'm listing the phones order details - things like order number, serial of phone, ect. To ensure that the customer is actually purchasing for the correct phone. This is where I need the "previous order details" kind of label.
Said customer could have say a pixel 3, and iPhone 12 and a Samsung Fold on 3 different orders, to its more to reduce any confusion and point out that this selected case is for this other order. -
@C0D4 ... Coffee to low.
I'd try to stress that this is not a product recommendation... Now the question is what your target group is and how you want to represent.
Parent Order or something like that is in my opinion toxic. As this implies a graph (or better a fixed relation) while in truth it is not so easy peasy to grasp what relation they have...
I'd definitely go more in the route of assisted shopping... E.g.:
We checked the compatibility of this purchase....
- Phone X you bought on Y - ✅ -

NoMad136664ySo you have a main product and also other complementary products? Or accessories? Or side products? Or dependent products?
P.S. relevant and fit also sound good. -
C0D4669024y@NoMad yes, but you can't get to these other products without having placed the original order.
I don't know why everyone's focused on the products, I know I grew up in a bogan town but geez 😅 -
C0D4669024y@NoMad base...., this could work.
🤗🫂🤗
I'd use Jedi, but I think the sith start an uprising for leaving them out again. -
NoMad136664y@C0D4 call it supreme order 😝 I'd like to see a few customer relation ladies try to not stretch their mouths out of humanly possible dimensions to pronounce it. (Straya accent)

jeeper58094ySo I’m thinking instead of explicitly restating the previous order, do like auto parts websites do. Have an area where it says
“This [part or accessory] is an exact fit for your [previously ordered item]”
Or if it’s generic
“This [part or accessory] should work with your [previously ordered item]”
Or if they somehow get something incompatible
“This [part or accessory] is may not work with your [previously ordered item]”
In the auto-parts websites it’s like
“This alternator is an exact fit for your 2013 Jeep Wrangler”
of course that alternator fits dozens of cars, but because I input I had a Jeep Wrangler it checks compatibility with that.

English is killing me here, so I'm going to crowd source a label here.
Best one wins a virtual hug 🤗
So, I need a customer facing word or words that doesn't sound like I gave up and just said "parent / related order"
Context being that a customer makes a purchase, but then comes back and purchases additional items in relation to the previous order on a seperate order.
I need a word!!
