Me: Hey, I looked into the bug, *explain what it was, how I fixed it, when it will be pushed etc.*

Boss: *calls immediately* How are you doing with the bug?

Me: ... I sent you a message?

When this happens I tell them I'm still working on it but it's almost finished.

Then I work on shit that I want to work on until the end of the day or until they message me back.

You know that you used too much "technical" words in your message when...

Some people prefer an in person talk about things they don't understand or just feel in person will be faster.

Think it this way, there are people in mid 2021 that still prefer to have a phone call over messages, same shit happens at work.

If you don't like it, you can talk about it with whoever and reach agreement.

Learn human interaction skills, it doesn't hurt, well it does but prevents bigger hurts when done right.

@Oktokolo If I keep it simple and just say "bug fixed!" they'll still call and probably ask "Oh so what was the problem?" t which they'll just ignore my answer.

So management not only wants to get told what happens - but also wants to get it told in a language they understand?!

Well, that is why there should be a project manager between the devs and the managers.

P.S.: Rephrasing complex things in simple language is not the same as just replacing everything with "i did my work" :P

I just tell them "it's fixed, details are in the mail. It turns out that...."

And then I keep talking about the code to such detail (including line numbers) they usually stop doing that after a few times, realizing what a timewaster it is to ask for details they won't understand anyway. You have to be consistent about it though. And not let up with the acronyms. Explain those too if needed.
