Jesus, Apple are fucking amazing at design! A keyboard I need to prop up with a book and a mouse I can't use when charging.... Genius!!!!

I actually like the keyboards, but the mouse is a huge failure

@g-m-f Lol, actually made me laugh out loud.

I was saying the same thing when i got a Mac for work--was my first time working on one. At least the mouse has gestures, but Jesus, is the keyboard to small for my sanity

Step 1. Buy a new keyboard.
Step 2. Buy a new mouse.
    Step 3. ?????
    Step 4. Profit.

@rickygoldchain work paid for them.... Oh well

    @g-m-f good one

@vinerz the fact that it charges in two min doesn't excuse the stupidity behind the design and there's no getting around that...so congrats on your sponsored post, live happy with fucking Apple and let @Letmecode code!

It's clear people don't appreciate this powerful and elegant yet simplistic feature, which implicitly states that when the mouse needs to charge, you should too.

This is achieved by forcing you to step away from the pc.
  • 4
@Letmecode probably it's not obvious, but I'm being ironic.

It's hard to justify such an obvious design flaw unless it was deliberate, but i have not the slightest idea what reason could it be.

@runfrodorun same for me (i3wm and vimperator) but I'm using a graphics tablet instead of a mouse. I find it more comfortable and precise when I absolutely need to move the pointer

I mean it's not like they designed the smart phone

    oh wait...
  • 0
It might be awkward out the top unless there was a groove and those cables are usually super short maybe they tried it first and it actually was a worse experience
  • 0
@dontbeevil I mean they brought it to the masses which is something they do often Apple has so much influential power. If they didn't who did?

More unhappy apple users... Whoopee doo 🤔
  • 2
That's why I have this beauty(Ducky Shine 6 Special Edition) and cheap A4Tech wireless mouse 😎 (and also use Windows 7/elementaryOS machine)
  • 1
Ironically, you've got the PRAGMATIC programmer book under the keyboard 😉
  • 2
@Faraaz ha, nah, it's 97 things every programmer should know... devRant isn't even in there... Wtf
  • 1
    @wilziack sorry my bad 😅
  • 2
I used to use an iphone
Since I know the blessing of android I started to almost hate apple
  • 0
@aile11 to be fair, the 2015 macbook pro is the best laptop I've ever used. All other apple products annoy me but the ones i use came with my job. I actually like their full size keyboard
  • 0
@wilziack its still just personal preference
    I like Windows and android
  • 0
@runfrodorun ok, that's funny, and I guess you mean windows about that personal data stuff
I can't really say why it isn't bothering me too much... But im using Windows anyways, just because a lot of games aren't available on other platforms
Well, I could lookup or try it in a vm, see how many games run on Linux (not gonna try osx again)

Btw, for passwords I use the password manager Lastpass I mean, a different, 16 character long password for each service is nice, do you have any concerns about Lastpass? ;)

@dontbeevil what I can read out of it is that the flaws lie by the extensions, and that there has to be Spyware on your pc, to access the extentions data

I don't want to sound too confident, but I'm sure there is none on my pc

If you think it's that big of a concern, I could give keepass a try, it's featured in that post
Or like, uninstall the extension and use lastpass as a website
  • 0
@runfrodorun im not that stupid, I even said I'm confident of not having any Spyware on my pc, anything sketchy is done in a vm

So, there's a chrome extension for keepass as well, maybe that's about as secure as lastpass if you use it that way?

Also I found a browser witch claims to have a good pw manager "maxathon"
Just adding that in case it's any good

I'm aware of Linux being less vulnerable, but a lot of games just don't run on Linux, that's my main point of staying with windows

If I'm taking too much of your time, just tell me, I don't want to bother you too much ;)
Just curious as to what I should be using
  • 0
@runfrodorun my browser is full of em
Anything that makes stuff easier, ok, also stylish for awesome dark themes

I wouldn't be able to use a browser like that for too long, especially since most websites I visit won't even work :P

Now for ease of use and of course security wise, what manager would you say is best?
Keepass seems good, but i would want it to sync, I think that's possible, but I didn't search long enough yet
  • 0
@runfrodorun at least it's the most secure technique, I couldn't do that.

That's why I need a good pw manager, I can't remember all of that shit, and I've got too many accounts for too many sites and games, no chance without using the same pw or a manager

I'll keep lastpass for a while, but I'll try alternatives, when I find the right one, I can give up lastpass ;)
  • 0
@runfrodorun where do you live? :P

My method is a little more problematic, if someone puts my finger on my phone they've got access to lastpass, witch would be all my pws

Or if my phone isn't available, they can just ask about my email address and pw

I think your method Is still better in terms 9f security

at least you can still Escape with your keyboard!
  • 0
@Re-cursing have you been denied escape?
  • 1
@wilziack check out the latest macbook pro. I'm a linuxoid, currently on a dell laptop. i _have_ escaped
  • 0
    @Re-cursing ohhhhhhhhhhhhh apple....
  • 1
And the charging smart pen also a flaw
  • -1
actually, it was a deliberate design choice. they didnt want people to just leave it plugged and use it as a wired mouse. weird decision, but not a bad design. @ggromx

    I hear they're rebranding. AppleShat

    @runfrodorun @aile11

In the scope of things, I value my physical safety over my digital security. No one would ever need to waterboard me, any legitimate threat to life and I'm sure I'd say "whatever man, just let me live and leave with all the appendages I came in with."
  • 1
@runfrodorun so they own me without waterboarding and you after. /shrug.

I leave with all my fingers :p

But in all seriousness, I aim to be either insignificant (and therefore not a target) or both physically & digitally secure.

I find the keyboard to be meh.

But the mouse (which I own and never use) fails in comparison to the

    Logitech MX Master 2S

Wow, it that thing a sweet piece of kit.

    I use a Mac work.

I've completely given up on the Apple mice; my problems with it compounded since I started using a bluetooth earpiece too.

Have since swapped it for a "wired" solution, and works like a charm!!

The only thing I miss about the Apple mouse is horizontal scrolling; but I miss the middle-mouse click even more!!
