Whoo!
Gave a talk at another local dev meetup yesterday; my 2nd talk so far. Was surprised at the generally positive reception.
The presentation was on a piece of software I used recently. Initially wasn't sure about how to predict the reception as I wasn't sure what to focus on. So just thought I'd give an intro, on it and highlight some of the features I liked about it.2 -
Whoo! Got a free lunch from a random person I met at a meetup recently who was interested to get into coding/programming/web development4

On top of what others have said, like the interview questions to ask, etc, do your own research too, not just on the company/companies you're applying for, but also on the industry as a whole and the average salary of that position in your country.
This will help get a better idea of when you're getting ripped off, especially for those who are just entering the job market. -
It's Friday...
It's crunch day...
Here in SG speak (Singlish), we say "chiong ah"... means "to rush"...9 -
Hey, can someone point me to a sample project (if it exists) on the best way(s) to stucture code for Serverless architecture that includes GraphQL and unit testing?
Preferably in NodeJS. I'm more interested in the code structure than anything else. -
Goodbye Ampps, hello Valet!!
Just got a Macbook Pro recently for personal web dev stuff. Previously, I usually use Ampps (like MAMP) for my local development.
But I want to move away from that as I wanted to go through the whole process of setting up my own local dev env.
After 3 days of trial and errors and many deadends, finally managed to get an existing Craft project running on Valet. The most tedious part was figuring out how connect Sequel Pro to local MySQL.
Through this whole process I've learned how to use Homebrew, setup MySQL with Sequel Pro, use Valet and most importantly, learning how to troubleshoot these problems...
Exclaimed a big YES! And mum came rushing into my room thinking I was mad... whateva...
Next step, figure out Docker.

Just chanced upon CraftCMS at work--used it for a small side project. Have been playing around with it, and am amazed and impressed with its ease of use. Think it would be my go-to CMS solution for future website projects.
Anyone else tried it? Used it for a production-ready project? Think it could replace Wordpress?1 -
Accidentally dropped my Pixel 3 this morning, which I bought just a week ago. 😭 And now there's a visible crack on the back of the lower-left corner. 😭 Thought that was the only one until I inspected my phone again and noticed a long, fine crack along the back... 😭😭😭
Man, whatever happened to the days when it was PHONES that smashed walls and floors instead??
And in case you're wondering, yes I have bought a case for it--still waiting for it to arrive...7 -
Hey, where is a good place to ask for ideas of solutions to abstract problems? Like a feature-request on something you've not built before? Like for discussion purposes to start ideas flowing? Reddit? Here, DevRant?
The only one I can think of is StackOverflow. But my impression on its purpose is that it is more for questions with concrete anwsers/solutions to them. -

Whoo!! Client's satisfied with recent launch of product!! Still has little bugs to fix here are there, but general feedback was positive, stating it's "much smoother"
