Got to work this morning only to find out devRant is now on the list of blocked social media sites here. Let the job search begin.

If I was the creators I would take that as a positive note that there's enough traffic to warrant that kind of attention lol

devRant should be using by design an uncensorable network protocol.

@heyheni lets collab for UDPRant. An encrypted solution to access devRant via UDP

@Scrumplex how about tor or I2P?
    or something like this
    https://code.google.com/archive/p/...

    I'm no developer

@heyheni Or just make it accessible (the web version at least) through a tor site maybe...

@linuxxx I'll write an email to devrant :)

I seriously don't understand this, why some companies block some websites?

It has nothing to do with productivity!

If it does anything, it would be decreasing loyalty.

If your employees are so hung up on social media and can't focus on work, then you really should talk to your recruiter for hiring them in the first place!

    just use mobile data?

Install Opera browser, enable the VPN, while you look for a new job. Then at your exit interview, tell them you left because of draconian Internet policies.

Hell our company is so chilled and so happy to treat us like adults, I am willing to bet sex.com is not even blocked. I know the net is monitored, but we have major IP running through those cables. It hell, our private mobiles connect to the same network.

@billgates yeah I actually posted this rant at work from my phone using 4g but it's still annoying that they blocked it.

I use Orbot and Orfox to work around the sites our work blocks. Most are benign sites, they would just have to register all of them. Less hassle.

I flashed my home router to OpenWRT and set up OpenVPN. Nobody will ever censor me :D

@sudoguy except if they do it like my school: all internet access is dropped. Proxy server is only pc that can go to the internet. And that results in HTTP only

This is one of my common fear, I remember they blocked a cinema website because I was frequently buying tickets before leaving office from work computer.

Ironic solution: using my work phone to get on devRant on 4g because it has unlimited mobile data.
