When you find out the 960 EVO M.2 SSD you rush delivered isn't supported on your motherboard so you have to return it and rush deliver an 850 EVO instead.

Playing ME:A, game froze, alt-tab out to try and close it, can see my mouse moving around but the screen the game is playing on is staying black. Whatever, shit happens, I'll just hard power off and reboot.
Powered down, push the power button, SSD isn't booting, being sent to BIOS. "Oh no."
SSD isn't listed in available boot options. "Shit." Checked the cables and what not, nothing, pretty sure it died on me. Go to Fry's to get a new 960 EVO m.2, sold out, go to the other one 30mins away that says it has one in stock, it doesn't either. 😧

Guess I'm ordering one online, Amazon says 1-3 weeks even with Prime, Samsung website says 1-3 days but no rush delivery.

Guess I'm computer-less for a while. (Unless I find something else before end of day)

Went to a small place for lunch, they had a TV that I think was playing sports earlier, but at some point it switched to a YouTube Playlist and started playing a Javascript tutorial on geo-location haha

Finally got a job offer, just waiting on the official letter, I am eager to hand my two weeks in. I'm even tempted to quit outright once I have the offer letter. (No one is under me, there's no training I can provide, no needed bridges would be burned)

One good thing about being at a remote offline office with virtually no supervision or coworkers is long lunches. I left ~10mins ago, and if anyone calls (and no one will), I left just few minutes before they called.

Thanks to @stop for attempting to correct my post earlier

- "Two months" training upon hire, with all the other hires too.
- Entire thing takes place in a hotel's larger room meant for small conventions or whatever.
- Brought on as Java developers, told there was Java work for all of us
- By the end of it, there wasn't
- Sit at our company's office for a month doing nothing, waiting for work
- It's summer time, 90F+ heat, and the A/C not only wasn't on most of the time, when it was on it was actually heating the building instead of cooling
- Get on a project, join the client site, takes at least a week to get a laptop, takes a month to get most of the needed accesses
- Was brought on because they needed a SQL Developer, I do not know more than basic syntax which I told them
- Project is 3 months behind already
- Really no development since Offshore handles it (poorly)
- For the first year+ of my time here I am doing nothing but manual quality assurance testing, and no development

It's hard to leave when you aren't learning

Continuing my saga, I'm now tasked with creating a .NET Web Form app and then converting it to ASP.NET Core as a proof of concept.
Problems:
- Web Forms are not supported in Core and are not planned to
- After 3 weeks I still do not have a work laptop
-- My personal laptop is a Chrome book running Linux
--- I can't install VS2017 on my laptop, I need it for this project.
- Working from home, where I have the resources available, is apparently against company policy (I'm not 100% on this yet, can't find it myself)
- I'm likely going to be sent back to the offline computer lab at a different location to work on this, where I doubt the programs/packages are installed

Perfect.

- Take a course called "Mobile Application Development"
- Teacher is new and is thus lost on how things work because there is no formal training for them
- Teacher only knows Objective-C so that's all we're allowed to use
- Nobody owns a Mac and I think one or two people had an iPhone/iPad
- Only 4 public Mac computers are available to the school
- One to two people are on them frequently, limiting our time on them as well
- Not a part of the schools normal imaging and updating system, so we get to do it ourselves, which takes up like a week or two of classes (4 classes)
- This includes installing XCode and getting Apple IDs
- No real instructions are given besides "implement the APIs for Facebook, Twitter, and Google Maps into an app"
- Being an ass, for the final day instead of showing off the app we made I made a PowerPoint of my dislike of Objective-C and various struggles I ran into and how I decided not to make the app at all.

It was my Java teacher's last semester before he bailed to a different school.

All the machines had different versions of needed software or just didn't have them at all. He would try to teach like we all had it and we should just take notes because installing would take too long.

He would rapid fire different technologies and then drop them lie flies, so we learned nothing about any of them.

At the end of the semester, almost nothing had been graded (my roommate never even knew his final grade, last he saw it was a '*')
He assigned the final exam project on Thursday afternoon of the last week of school, and it required every technology he thought he used in the course.

I came out with a D, somehow, couldn't ask why because he left already. A lot of people had D's or worse, but it was what they needed in order to move on or graduate or whatever so there wasn't enough of a group to get it corrected by student affairs.

Fun times.

My Parallel Programming teacher had a new job at a different school, and ours was year round so the schedule didn't line up, so he just left half way through the semester. He was the only teacher who knew the stuff.

An adjunct teacher came in, which of course got us nowhere. I don't blame the teacher for leaving though, the school sucked.

Fairly new to Linux, read that vim is a neat editor but hard to learn, good for script editing and such, but why use it over a language specific editor or something like VS Code?

When your Chromebook/Crouton starts complaining about lack of available memory and uninstalling programs isn't helping and the "shadow vault" has consumed everything, so you just say "fuck it" and Powerwash the whole thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've been instructed to learn and create proof of concepts on a machine:
- Isolated from everyone at a different physical location
- Without admin rights
- With nothing that I need installed
- With no Internet connection
