I just compiled a color palette for devRant-related drawings that anyone can import into GIMP and Inkscape. Already successfully using it for graphics promoting dR Community Matrix (more on that later), hence the name: "drcm-palette".

What do you mean by devrant-related graphics?

@gosubinit more like "graphics associating with devRant", because color palette takes the same colors used throughtout the place.

dRCM is gonna be Matrix space for devRant users, to meet in workshops and chat. It's a response to previous attempts of bringing instant messaging to devs here. More on that later, stay tuned 🥁

@vintprox I don't meant to be rude, I just want to understand, really. If I understand it correctly, you described WHAT you are doing. I am still curious about the WHY though. Is it just a for-fun kind of project? Or did you identify a pain of devrant users and you are solving it?

@gosubinit I understand your healthy interest. It is a project that I like nurturing past year. Few things that serve as collective motivation: the lack of readily available and privacy-respecting instant DM and semi-public channels, places to hang out and exchange vast knowledge in interactive format. Former point is peculiar in that it can help with stage fright I experience as well as other people, when it comes to workshops. I intend to make a free service that can assist you in promoting your workshop with generative and manual art (hey, familiar color palette comes into play), and to prepare didactic material.

It is an early prototype, and it still doesn't cover much of the WHYs, but maybe you can get some additional context this way.

@gosubinit I tried to explain how color palette fits into this as well, you just have to read 🤭 Moreover, you might notice that exact same colors are reused in dRCM logo and promo art I uploaded before.

The point of this rant was, of course, to share colors and their shades in a more organized format, instead of you having to open devtools and fetching them once again (there are no luminescence variants, too).

Many developers (myself included) fall in love with their solutions so much that they stop solving real problems and stop seeing things from the user perspective.

My advice kido, avoid becoming that kind of dev.

@gosubinit I am revisiting a third-party view on daily basis and open for feedback. It is important for dev to internalize and see outside of their box.

Make sure that you have a way to collect feedback effectivelly, perhaps a google form or similar. Ask questions that help you figure out if your efforts are addressing the right things, and if your assumptions about what is needed are correct. I mean, in case you haven't already.

Being open for feedback and asking feedback are not the same thing.
