Why don't Android users upgrade to newer phones?
It's a pain supporting users on API level 20 and below. -_-

I am poor. Looking after my phone for 3 years gonna keep it another 3.

,@Haxk20 we developers cant go around installing custom ROM on users' phone, and most of them are too noob to install one themselves.

Installing a custom android ROM should be as easy as ABC... I mean as easy as installing a Linux distro on PC

I wonder how much more awesome I could do my main app if I developed for 21 or 22, but then I remember that's not that easy for everyone to have newer phones.

We're not made out of money.

Would have been cool though.

In some countries where salaries are 200-300 USD they wont be able to afford new phone every few year thats why they keep using thr same phone for years till its no more useable

That one time that made me hate open source, every company wants to be "creative" with their fucked up modifications and bloat shit making it harder to make a faster release

@BugsBuggy I get it depends on what you use for your app, the app for my job supports 17 and up.

I had to jump through a couple flaming hoops but there are tons of 3rd party libraries that have make stuff supported on higher APIs for lower APIs.

If you support <=16,that's 98.4% of the users. If you use compat libs, you'd barely notice it. What's your specific pain (out of interest)

@rusty-hacker cannot use `android:elevation:`... An image view and text view is being hidden under a view pager.

Just support from jellybean or kitkat and use support libs!
