Manager: Hi
Manager: Do you know anything about this? <screenshot.jpg>

Me: Hi
Manager: Oh, I didn't mean to disturb you this late

Me: *what....? Then what DID you mean by writing to me at my bedtime....?*

(Though it's good he pinged me - it was a valid and time-sensitive concern. But saying "I didn't mean to" - that's just not true. Call a spade a spade and spit out what you need)

    Shoot first, think later.

I'm guessing it was more that they weren't expecting you to see the messages until the next morning.

I'm occasionally guilty of this, but try to take particular care in not messaging people who I know will check their messages out of hours. A "scheduled send" email for first thing in the morning is best for stuff like this.

@sleek I for one love it. Don't have to ping asking for an ACK

Effective communication in age of remote working and global teams is async communication. People should not need to wait for your work hours to write to you. You should set your work hours and if you don't want to be bothered then mute notifications and answer when your work day starts.

@sleek I like it, can be used as a power move when I see but don't respond :D

@sleek although for those that don't like it, I'm pretty sure every communications app I've seen that had it also had an option to disable it
