    But that's right 😐 I don't like Edge neither

    @Orionss my hatred for IE comes from having to write mixins.

    The only people using edge are people who are unaware of chrome 😂.

    @Orionss Firefox has always been a nice fox to me.

    I remember getting this popup in my computer and I literally fell down the chair. I was like how the fuck you can arrange all those words in that manner.

    Both Chrome and Firefox is slow. Edge is actually faster.
    But does that mean I use it? No

    But tbf it is pretty lean without extensions...
    A lighter car is *sometimes* quicker off the mark

    I like Vivaldi (also a browser).
    How come no one uses Tor?
  • 1
    @Niddam I use Tor but no reason to when I'm just browsing. I like my fast internet thanks haha.

    @liquid-dev I know all browsers, that's why i use edge, i used firefox, than chrome and than edge as my primary browser, now ff is my second choice... Maybe it's you that don't know edge

    @StefanH The full standardized version of CSS grid should come this month.
    And no, it's not the same old story. They've been working on service workers for some time (available behind flags), already implemented the PaymentRequest API, support a lot of codecs and in general care a lot about web standards nowadays. One reason is that the company as a whole has changed under Satya Nadella, but the other reason is that they're kinda forced to: there aren't many native Windows apps, so they're betting big time on Progressive Web Apps and pushing the web.
    If anyone started to continue Internet Explorer's "old story", it's Apple. Took them five years to get an awful implementation of WebRTC into Safari, but yay, it's here now with iOS11/High Sierra...

    With Turbofan and Ignition? Yeah sure

    @StefanH if you would really follow Edge you'd know that's not at all the old story like ie, they didn't implement they own standards/api, bur only w3c standards, of course like all browsers they don't support EVERYTHING yet, but you can take a look and compare for example witj html5test, html accessibility test, css... They have also their own public roadmap, I'll send you the link later if I'll remember

    @StefanH they cannot (anymore), the problem now is google with android and Chrome

    That's because major versions of edge are released with Windows 10 versions updates, so next version of edge will be shipped on 17th of october (this is bad and i hope they'll change, cannot release a major version of a browser every six months)

    @dontbeevil I wouldn't say Edge is a 'major' browser. I mean I don't even do tests there anymore :/.
  • 0
    @liquid-dev i didn't say major browser as market share, i said major versions of edge 14.x, 15.x, 16.x... Oh maybe was it sarcasm?
  • 1
    @StefanH I installed the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10 today, it comes with Edge 16. And voilá: full CSS grid support! :)

    @liquid-dev i use waterfox

    What is inside chrome is V8, which is a highly performant JS engine which easily beats rest all.
    Now that is why electron and nodejs rely on V8

    @jalebiBhai this was a test in 5/16
    https://developers.redhat.com/blog/...

    and this in 4/17
    https://microsoftedge.github.io/vid...

    if you find someone newer, I'll be happy to check

    @jalebiBhai are you still searching for something to defend v8?

    @jalebiBhai yeah, but you didn't prove it

    PS - I never trust benchmarks

    https://google.co.in/amp/...

    Here is the benchmark of my phone z2
    I love this phone.
    But despite its high benchmark, phone doesn't seem to be that fast ( clearly not faster than sony z5, which is way behind in benchmark test). As it lags at some places.

    your article is from january 2016 ... things changes, in IT specially fast... my point was that in may 2016, v8 wasn't CRAZY FASTER than chakra core, in april 2017 was slower, this according to the benchmarks. but as you don't trust them and you cannot provide any more details, anyway you cannot say that "easily beats rest of all"
