Tutanota (encrypted email service) has a newly designed interface.

I usually don't give a crap about design.

It's so beautiful 😍

I think I'm in love 😱

Just for the record, their old interface wasn't that modern really so I love the new one.

Just registered an account yesterday and the new interface really looks a lot better than the old one.

I just signed up out of interest. Well, I don't know what it looked like before, but I don't think it's that great.

Right now everything looks the same because of Bootstrap :(

@Parham3679srsr Oh hey you have a face now! Our silent upvoter :)

@tracktraps Uhm as far as I know they do not use Bootstrap?
  • 0
@tracktraps Anyways, if you think that, fair enough! I love it anyways :)
  • 2
@ThatDude @Parham3679srsr I just think that a cape is missing from his avatar.... oh right, not all heroes wear capes ;)
  • 1
@linuxxx I know. I was referring to the arrangement of the various menus and buttons. It just looks very much like bootstrap, even if it's not bootstrap :)

Do you know protonmail.com? Looks almost identical.

I've been using tutanota for a while now it's pretty awesome
  • 0
@tracktraps Yup and I've used it but imo they're becoming too commercial. As in their prices, their support (they respond to me in about a few days while Tutanota takes a few hours tops) and their VPN service (i think it looks good but just not enough value for money money).

So i quit it and fully moved to tutanota!

@Parham3679srsr Sounds awesome man! Just wanted you to know that your kindness has not gone unnoticed from the start :)

@Parham3679srsr Not sure whether you're joking or not πŸ˜…
  • 3
@Parham3679srsr Oh wow haha! Hey in your defense, although you've upvoted loads, you hardly have upvotes so very understandable!

I kind of want to make a desktop client for their service but I don't think they have a public api and I'd be worried that I would just have security holes which they work so hard to prevent

I am now using it. Thanks for the recommendation!

    Pics or it didn't happen
  • 1
Eh I don't like it that much better, but it does feel more modern than the 2009 interface they had before,

    so that's nice

@Axis opensource it. Work with them. Work with the community.

Just signed up for an account, and not sure why is all their HTML code inside script tags?
  • 0
  • 0
@linuxxx can't post images on devRant web, but if you login from desktop and click on "View Page Source", you'll see everything inside script tags, even their CSS is inline css and not imported from a css file
  • 0
@gitpush Oh right. Not sure how that works haha
  • 1
@gitpush are you sure about that? Because I don't see it
  • 0
@linuxxx I'm no web dev too but first time I ever see that (actually I once saw a website that has like 10 PHP then an IF to print all HTML, then an else, in-case the user was not logged in :S)
  • 1
    @gitpush They use Node :)
  • 1
@incognito @gitpush ooh you were talking about devrant 🀦‍♂️sorry I thought you were talking about tutanota
  • 0
@incognito no I'm talking about tutanota, check the image it is from my inbox
  • 0
@gitpush hmm I don't see an option to upload an image (on the devrant.io web interface) but the only place I found that code was on the old one, and even there it was in normal html for me

I'm getting worried.... Am I different?
    😱

@incognito is this the new one?

@ThatDude DAMN! THAT IS MUCH BETTER LOOKING UI! Thanks @dude :3

    out of scope, so far:
    1. using DDG
    2. Seriously considering switch to Tutanota

    Question:
    Alternative to:
    1. Google Drive
    2. Google Keep
    3. Ubuntu (I know they collect data, not sure though)
    4. MS Office (didn't like LibreOffice or OpenOffice lol)
  • 0
@ThatDude I'm selling it for 10$ if you want :P
  • 0
@ThatDude same here I'm familiar more with dpkg that is why I'm using Ubuntu. Tried Mint earlier and noticed no difference.
Might as well reinstall today and see
  • 2
@gitpush @ThatDude I am actually also in the same boat as you two, I currently don't use google drive because I have found a better option, if you can understand Dutch you might want to checkout Stack from TransIp

they offer one free terabyte and (according to their website)
    'No analysis of your files'

    oh and they suport WebDAV

@linuxxx any input ooh privacy god?
  • 0
@incognito I just found SimpleNote but don't know how private it is :S
  • 0
@ThatDude nope, you can apply I don't remember any restrictions other than it only being in Dutch
  • 1
@linuxxx maybe it would be handy if you tell me (and @gitpush and @ThatDude) how you do your privacy research, how do you know if a service is private (and not like the PureVPS incident a few days ago)
  • 0
@ThatDude I don't understand, I know his website is not yet complete
  • 1
@incognito ya @linuxxx that would be amazing please :)
  • 1
@ThatDude oh now I understand lol guess I need another morning coffee :P

    Well. I guess I'm not welcomed. :(
    (Tried without VPN as well)

Damn, it has some many localizations x_x

@Rethought I'd see if you can file a report with them definitely seems like an issue they would resolve

@Axis Hi, thanks for the tip! I've managed to work around by actively changing the VPN. At some point it accepted me. I'm not quite sure why my IP was not allowed in the first place and read in some blog post that they banned some ranges of IPs and I was simply unlucky enough to be in such a range.
