Cooling a portable HDD like

hey ranteros! i like to dream and i know many of us dream of a nice machine to do anything on it, if you want to post the specs of your ideal build(s) (even a laptop, pre-built pc, space gray macbook pro... doesn't matter). and your current one.

here's mine:

screen: 17 inch hd-ready!!! (i think it's a tn panel), i've never done a test on color accuracy, but to my eyes it's bright, colorful, and has some dust particles between the lcd and backlight hah,
other cool things: dvd player/burner, full-sized keyboard with numeric keypad, vga, hdmi, 4 usb ports, ethernet, wi-fi haha, and it's hot, i mean so hot, hotter than elsa jean and piper perri combined,

if you read this whole thing i love you, and if you have some time to spare on a sunday you can share your dream rig and the sometimes cruel current one if you dare. you don't have to share them both. i know many will go b.o.b and say "what you're hoping to accomplish, i already did bitch.", that's cool as well, brag about your cool rig!

On one side I fucking hate waiting for the internet technician. I would've liked to go to work (especially as there is an event right now) and not sit here during "That-5-hour-window-because-scheduling-isn't-a-thing-the-german-Telekom-will-tell-you-about" and nurse my impatience.
On the other side, I have idle time and I like programming when everything's quiet in the house and only the heating and my PC cooling system are whirring quietly, so I've got that going for me which is nice.
Only too bad there's no internet right now.

Just got a new laptop table with a cooling fan. Now watching an Isaac Arthur video before drifting off to sleep, with cozy pillows, a nice blanket, and the laptop on the aforementioned table above my legs.
I feel like a Metapod.

They dont mention it in any reviews but dell has cooling problems. Yesterday I bought a brand new g5 from a shop and fans were not spinning until 80c from which it started spinning at 4900rpm like a vacuum. Note that I have latest bios so its not temperature table problem in bios.

I found out that there is a driver for thermal power which you can install and for most people it does the work (runs 2200 rpm silent cooling for most of time and 4900 rpm when cpu gpu temp goes above around 60c which is annoying)

So I had to spend entire day on figuring out how to control cooling fans myself. And even then dell limited available speeds in bios at 0, 2200 and 4900 rpm.

Anyways now my cooling fans run at 2200 rpm until 70c and 4900 after. So i get some nice silent performance for 90% of what I do and as for gaming, full fans after 75c is fine. I ran DOOM from steam and max temps Ive got were around 85-90c which is pretty high, so Im thinking of doing a repaste event though im afraid of voiding the warranty.
