I somehow managed to get this beast working!!

Powermac G4 (AGP) 400

My father has an old powermac (G5 I believe) and wants a modern lightweight OS since apple dropped support a while ago. I proposed Linux and my father seemed intrigued to try it out. Tomorrow I get the machine and get to set it up.

I was thinking of Elementary OS, since he is an Apple fanboy. What do you think about that decision?

Never used or installed it before, but how hard can it be?
*obligatorily mentioning that I use Arch Linux*

So, was testing a classic Mac an old friend sent over and realized an interesting convergence had occurred in my office.

In the attached shot you can see the following:

Center: A Macintosh LC III - effectively the last of the 68k Mac line
Right: A PowerMac G5 - one of the old cheese graters, and the last major release of the PowerPC line
Left, under the monitor: A 2020 Mac Mini - effectively the end of the Intel Mac line

The LC III gives a startup chime, but I wasn't able to get a video signal out of it using the Apple-to-VGA adapter I was using. Otherwise I'd be posting a shot with all 3 up and running.

So my previous rant was about a 13-year-old PC with a ton of dust... It is a 2004 PowerMac G5 1.8GHz, and I recently installed a flavor of debian on it called Lubuntu, so now I actually use it. It currently has 750mb of ram but I found a max upgrade (4x1gb) on eBay and that's in the mail.

Once that comes in I'll have an ok-ish machine but I'll have nothing to use it for.

So what can I use it for? I open to suggestions.
