Hey everyone! Recently there was a bug discovered which caused many (but not all) “user x posted a new rant” subscription notifs (both in-app and push) to not get sent out for the last week or so. It should be fixed now. Unfortunately though, they won’t be backfilled, so make sure you take a look at your favorite ranters’ profiles since you might not have been notified about their most recent rants.
A big thanks to @gitpush for reporting the issue and thanks to @linuxxx for help testing/confirming the fix worked.
For the basic cause: when we overhauled/fixed push notifs on Android in the last build (about a week ago), we had to convert to FCM. When a “user posted rant” notification was getting sent out, the asynchronous worker would process all of the subscription notifs in a loop. So for users who have a lot of subscribers, somewhere in the loop, something was failing, likely having to do with the new FCM send method. This is now fixed and all push notifs in that worker are also done asynchronously.
Let me know if you have any questions and apologies for the loss of subscription notifs!12 -
This is just evil.
Unlocking a dark theme by inviting friends to a service I just wanted to try out.
Also the wording is annoying. Yes, I do want the dark them, I just don't want to spam my friends for it. Subscription process cancelled, dickheads.

I just want to take a moment to appreciate how lovely and non-aggressive the subscription process for a Mozilla dev newsletter is.
They show a list of topics like
- Mozilla tech
- add on mails
etc
Only the dev newsletter is preselected by default and the rest are unsubscribed by default.
So if I just submit, I'll just get dev mails and I can subscribe to the rest only if I want to.
This is so much better than chrome or other Google bullshit where if I subscribe to a dev newsletter I'm automatically subscribed to every single piece of shit mail available.
You go Mozilla. Thanks for not being a piece of shit. -
Programmers of today have replaced customly designed algorithms with off-the-shelf heuristics. They wander through packages and libraries and end up making something that is in no way viable to run in production.
(Paraphrasing Tesla)
Seriously, how many dependencies do a data science stack for some internal process needs? It would be fine of it was just an image compilation issue, but every other library nowadays needs a fucking subscription.
It makes sense when vendors want to bill you for using their neat library. It takes a lot of effort to develop those things.
But you better deliver something great and have a fucking good reason to make it an API instead of a self hosted or locally installed library.
Because it doesn't matter how much you've optimized your hardware to run your library, the network latency makes it much more expensive (in processor time alone!) to call an API and await a gRPC response. Oh, I can do async? No shit, Sherlock. Your fucking server cannot handle my load. Not without significant investment on a dedicated host and then we're back to square one.
Shit, its cheaper to run the thing on my side. "Oh, you can do self-hosted! We just need to make sure we have our digital rights management bloatware ruining the performance of everything!"
Just to make things worse, every other data science library nowadays is just a fucking distilled LLM. Those pieces of crap manage to be more unreliable than politicians.
Fuuuuck, the world is burning already and we're pouring fuel all over it with those fucking get-rich-quick "advanced API tools". Can't we just hire talented people instead of licensing a dozen vendors? But noooooo, everybody gotta be their own fucking boss because companies hate when their employees are happy and sabotage it all with RTO mandates.
Fuck, I need a drink. The enshittyfication has come for us, at last. May our end be quick as `sudo shutdown 0`.3 -
Long time no rant...
Just fuck apple.
I’m working in partnership with an startup as iOS dev.
We have payments in our app since it was released couple years ago. And everything was ok. Two months ago we implemented a subscription based program that granted our user access to a few things that we need to process manually. I specified that because in apple’s guidelines states that services consumed outside app are not allowed to be sold using inapp purchase and you have to implement your own payment method.
All nice and good we used what we had already in place and the updated was approved. Same for the next 6 versions. Now we discovered a quite critical bug and fixed and submitted a new update just so apple would reject it because we are using subscription that is not implemented using their fucking store kit. So they can’t get those 30% share cut.
Fuck them fuck their echo system fuck their overpriced product. I’v just abandoned my 15” mbp mid2015 in favor of a hackintosh just because my mbp was dying from high temps. Fuck it i’m almost done with mobile development after 6 years2 -
Don't you just hate it when there seems to be nothing but in some ways lacking solutions to a definite task in your capability arsenal? Or rather, I don't really know how I should feel about it... I've been developing this solution to receive a 3DES encrypted Azure Service Bus message, decrypting it and chewing the output XML down so as to be digestible to the PHP application whose API the message gets delegated to... but there just seems to be no perfect solution: subscribing to the event topic straight from the target app just... doesn't seem to work properly, a Python implementation.... well, let's just leave it at that... a Node.js implementation would require TS and completely rewriting a proprietary library with 100+ complex types - also, there's some hiccups with both the subscription and the decryption...
I started with an F# implementation (after deeming the PHP one flawed), and it seems it's still the best. But goddamn it I had problems with it on the dotnet core side of thing (decryption output incorrect), so I had to switch to dotnet framework... Now finally everything crucial is peachy, but I can't seem to be able to implement a working serialized domain model pipeline to validate the decrypted message and convert it to something easier to digest for the target application (so that I could use the existing API endpoint instead of writing a new one / heavily modifying the existing implementation and fear breaking something in the process...). I probably could do it in C#, I don't know, but for the love of Linus I'm not going to do it if I can avoid it, when implementing the same functionality I have now without the Dto and Domain type modules would take 3x LoC than the current F# implementation incl. the currently unused modules!
And then there's the problem of deployment... I have no idea what's the best way to deploy a dotnet framework module to an app completely based on MAMP running on a mostly 10yo AWS cloud solution. If I implemented a PHP or Node.js solution, it'd be a piece of cake, but... Phew, I don't know. This is both frustrating, overwhelming and exciting at the same time.7 -
PROFESSIONAL MONEY RECOVERY AGENCY → FOLKWIN EXPERT RECOVERY.
Hi, I’m sharing my ordeal today because I know many of you could be in the same situation, and I want to help you avoid the same mistake I made. A little over a month ago, I came across what seemed like an incredible deal for a movie streaming service. They promised all the latest movies, TV shows, and exclusive content for a very reasonable price. They were offering an annual subscription for just $39,000, which seemed like a great deal at the time when compared to some of the larger streaming services out there. I should’ve known something was off from the start. The website looked pretty legitimate, had professional graphics, and even customer reviews that were mostly positive. But there were no big, recognizable brand names behind it, and the service was claiming to have content from major studios, which raised a red flag I didn't fully process. Still, the deal was tempting, and after doing a quick search online (which, in hindsight, wasn’t thorough enough), I decided to go ahead and sign up. I paid the $39,000 upfront for the annual subscription, thinking that I was getting access to all the movies and shows I’d ever wanted. At first, everything seemed fine. I received an email confirming my subscription and even a receipt. But a few days later, when I went back to the site to browse content, I couldn’t get in. The site was down, and there was no way to contact anyone. I waited a few days, hoping it was just a technical issue. But then, I started doing some more research and realized that others had fallen victim to the same scam. The website had disappeared, and no one could find any trace of the company behind it. I was furious. I had just lost $39,000, and it seemed like there was no way to get it back. That's when I came across Folkwin Expert Recovery. They specialize in helping people recover funds from online scams like this. I was skeptical at first, but after reading reviews and seeing their success stories, I decided to give them a try. The team at Folkwin Expert Recovery was extremely professional. They asked for all the details about my transaction, including the payment method, and got to work right away. Within just a few days, I received updates from them, and eventually, they successfully recovered my $39,000. It felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I honestly didn’t think it was possible to get my money back, but thanks to Folkwin Expert Recovery, I did. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, I highly recommend reaching out to them. FOLKWINEXPERTRECOVERY(at)TECH-CENTER.C OM, TELEGRAM: @FOLKWIN_EXPERT_RECOVERY . They made the process simple and stress-free, and they delivered on their promises. Just remember to always be cautious when dealing with online subscriptions, especially if something feels too good to be true.
Stay safe out there!
Best Regards,
Edward O. Elliott.

HOW CAN I TRACE AND RECOVER MY STOLEN CRYPTOCURRENCY FROM A SCAMMER; CONTACT CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES
One fine Sunday, I decided to have a shoot. The weather was perfect, and everything seemed to align just right for an outdoor photoshoot. As I set up, I couldn’t help but think of a recent conversation I had with a photographer friend of mine, Dave. He’s one of the best in the industry, a true professional with years of experience and an impressive portfolio. He’s always striving to improve his work and provide the best for his clients. Unfortunately, he recently went through a situation that left him shaken, but it ultimately turned into a valuable lesson. I thought it would be worth sharing with you all. Dave, being such a big name in photography, was always searching for ways to elevate his craft. He wanted only the best, whether it was the latest gear, the top locations, or, in this case, the finest photo editing services available. One day, he came across an ad for a photo editing service that promised premium quality with a lifetime subscription at a one-time fee of $7,500 NZD. The offer seemed too good to pass up for someone like Dave, who only wanted the best for his photos. The website was sleek, the testimonials were glowing, and the pricing was positioned as a premium, lifetime solution. It appeared to be the perfect match for a photographer of his caliber, so he decided to invest without hesitation. At first, the service seemed to live up to its promises. The edits were decent, and the turnaround times were reasonable. Dave was satisfied at least initially. But over time, things started to go wrong. The quality of the edits began to decline, and the company’s responsiveness grew slower and less reliable. When Dave reached out for updates, the answers were vague and unhelpful. Soon, communication stopped altogether, and the edits were no longer up to the high standards Dave was used to. It became clear that Dave had been scammed. Despite paying for a lifetime subscription, he was left with subpar work and no way to get in touch with the company. He had lost a significant amount of money and, more importantly, the trust he had placed in a service he thought would be the best. That's when a fellow photographer recommended CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES. Initially, Dave was skeptical, unsure if anyone could help him recover the money he had lost. But after reaching out, he quickly realized that CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES was different. The team worked tirelessly to track down the scammers and recover $7,000 of his original $7,500 payment. It was a huge relief for Dave and restored some of his faith in the process. Now, Dave shares his story with other photographers in the industry, especially those who, like him, want only the best for their work. He advises them to be cautious with their investments and to always do thorough research before committing to anything. He also highly recommends CERTIFIED RECOVERY SERVICES, knowing firsthand how valuable their expertise can be when things go wrong. So, if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, remember that even the best can be caught off guard. But with the right support, like Dave experienced, you can turn things around and recover from what initially seems like an irreparable loss.

HOW TO SECURE AND RECOVER YOUR STOLEN CRYPTO // TRUST GEEKS HACK EXPERT
On January 2nd , I came across an online advertisement for an educational software package that promised to revolutionize my learning experience. I was studying digital marketing and was particularly interested in improving my skills in SEO, social media strategy, and online advertising. The software claimed to offer personalized courses, interactive lessons, and advanced tools that would significantly enhance my education. As someone constantly striving to improve my skills in the competitive field of digital marketing, I was immediately intrigued and convinced by the glowing reviews and testimonials featured on the website. The software was advertised as being user-friendly and suitable for a wide range of subjects, from beginner to advanced marketing strategies. The price was relatively steep, but given the promises and the apparent professionalism of the site, I thought it was a reasonable investment in my future. I paid AUD 4,200 for a year’s subscription to the software, expecting that it would provide value and deliver on its promises. However, after making the payment and gaining access to the platform, I quickly realized that the software was nothing like what had been advertised. The user interface was clunky and outdated, with many of the features either malfunctioning or simply nonexistent. The "interactive lessons" were little more than text-based slides that lacked any real engagement. The promised personalized learning paths were nowhere to be found, and many of the subjects listed were either incomplete or poorly structured. When I tried to contact customer support, I found that the response times were slow, and the representatives seemed unhelpful. Eventually, I realized that I had been scammed. The website I had trusted was a fraudulent operation, and I had no way of recovering my money on my own.Determined to get my AUD 4,200 back, I turned to Trust Geeks Hack Expert. I had heard about their success in helping individuals recover funds lost to online scams, so I decided to reach out for assistance E m a il > i n f o @ t r u s t g e e k s h a c k e x p e r t . c o m --- T e l e g r a m, T r u s t g e e k s h a c k e x p e r t . Trust Geeks Hack Expert worked tirelessly to track down the fraudulent website's operators and identify the transactions involved. Their experts were able to employ various strategies, including legal and technical measures, to secure my refund. Within a matter of weeks, I received a full refund of my AUD 4,200, something I had thought was impossible. Thanks to Trust Geeks Hack Expert, I was able to get my money back and avoid further losses. Their expertise and dedication in handling online fraud cases were truly remarkable. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I highly recommend reaching out to them for assistance.
