How can perl be hated at all, there is no need and/or production code for/with it.
The only ones using it are the anti-python nerds (like me, as @AlexDeLarge said, I hate what I have no clue about), so where does the hate for it come from?

Guess it's the same like Delphi. It's there, we don't know it, so it's shit. But it's weird that this happens to the oldschool languages.

I think it is that way because this language/engine storm creates some kind of frustation. Becoming an allround coder gets more and more impossible imho, too little time to learn too much, too many concepts freezing up half way through because the creators behind them realize they don't see a single penny for the work. Who can blame them tho.

PHP. Not sure if things have changed, but the level of effort required to get basic things working on a PHP install was so much at one point, they created a term for it:
