Did you ever feeling like you made all the right choices in life?
(At least for the big decisions)

That feeling is fucking amazing..

I'm 35, I don't have an education and I only just got my life back on track and got hired into a dev position after being laid off from my job through 8 years.

No I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, but go you! :-D

@ArcaneEye well, glad that you got the corner.

I also don’t have any (higher) education but that makes me feel like it’s my achievement. My skills convinced, not my papers.

Im sure you’re gonna fuck all of them in your new position.

I just feel like I made some fucking wrong decisions in my social life when it comes to the big ones.

@just8littleBit aye, it's not all bad. Hitting the market with a lot of traction after hobbycoding at work for a few years was an awesome boost, but sometimes I do wish I didn't spend student loans and five years on not becoming a physiotherapist :-p

But yeah, we learned this shit in minutes and hours gleaned from the corporate machine, we fought for it and now it is ours :-D

    Nope.
    Didn't finish high school.
    Didn't go to uni.

I've had to work my ass off to become the dev I am, but even this line of work I entered late professionally (24) as I was working from 16 full time in dead end jobs.

But since making that one decision, I'll admit life became easier and felt like it had meaning.

I feel like I didn't do the right choices but I did do the right choices for me.

At 35 I'm going to get my third degree (this time in CS), probably second advanced degree, because I can't get any responses for SWE positions. Nope, I dunno what the fuck you're talking about. 😂

@CaptainRant those are some solid choices if you ask me. It sounds like the social things bother you and on that note I'd just like to say it's never too late to start making friends - it's not all about getting wasted and getting laid, and 'life experience' has nothing to do with partying IMHO.

@ArcaneEye I find that I have a lack of playing around with girls and I need more of that. It's indeed never too late to make friends and to have fun but even making friends is astronomically hard (long story). I'm just a late-bloomer.

Oh and 90% of those boozers dropped out and failed.

I was more talking about life experience as in getting into shitty situations and being able to get yourself out of them. For example, my car completely breaking down in the middle of an intersection, etc. I've traveled to about 6 or 7 countries as well. I just need more zingggg, more of the things that life has to offer.

No. I feel like I failed every big decision in my life regarding personal/social aspects.
And somehow in work, ended up exactly where I wanted: Working in a nice office, with nice people, having AC, not stressing about hours.
I have 100% freedom on frameworks, languages, hosting selection.
