So now we’ve come down to not understanding what late means. Let’s celebrate ๐
-
C0D4681383yMy favourite.
PM: Why isn't ticket x completed yet?
Me: well, yesterday I was in just as many meetings as you, there's only 8 hours in the day and I'm now in my 37th meeting for the week and it's only Thursday morning.
So, please for the love of god, tell me how this tickets lack of completion is due to my incompetence.
PM: *awkward silence* -
@C0D4 why you don't have an engineering manager to bridge between hands on dev and PM?
-
You are 1 minute early.
And anyway everyone knows that when you struggle to arrive on time, everybody else will be late. -
C0D4681383y@Floydimus it's not a large team, and I'm in a position to be able to defend myself anyway and get away with it.
The worst the PM can do to me is fire me, the worst the PM can do to the business, is actually fire me ๐
There's Pros and Cons to being the only original developer for this business. -
@C0D4 when you are invested for so long that any action for or against you will only benefit you.
-
@rEaL-jAsE I am not replying to you comment because tomorrow you'll delete your account and make me look stupid in this thread.
-
C0D4681383y@Floydimus I play the long game. It's a win/win for me if you look at it right.
Side affects include mental instability, prolonged exposure to stress, being that one fucking person everyone has to go to, and excessive meetings... 28 so far this week, thank fuck it's Friday tomorrow, oh and did I mention complete autonomy over many projects - that's a plus though. -
Well I just attend this meeting based accordingly of the speed I got for my pay cheque.
-
@C0D4 isn't that inversely proportional..
Longer you stay, lesssr the stres because you know the product, people, and processes. -
C0D4681383y@Floydimus I think that depends on how many times in your own employeed life in the place that they try to reinvent them selves ๐คจ
Perks of never running out of something to do, there's always another mountain to climb. -

Our new lead developer has started the daily standup 4 minutes early. I sit there, waiting for it to hit the minute mark of the original meeting time, before I join the video call
