The time has come.

Today, I am giving everyone full public access to my devRant client for everyone!

In order to install the client, you need to install TestFlight and then open this link:

https://testflight.apple.com/join/...

This will let you join the public alpha/beta.

Please note that I will not be uploading the app to the iOS App Store because dfox doesn't allow it.

Please also note that this version of the app is quite early, and there will be glitches and bugs. The app automatically reports crashes to me, so I would know if there is a bug in the app.

@Ranchonyx Thanks! This is unlike any project I have ever worked on, this would definitely be an experience.

    screenshoot for androiders

@heyheni Yeah lmao, I used this specific screen as a a testing ground for different layouts and manipulation of the top title, this will be replaced with the actual Stories page when I will actually sit and implement it.

    @heyheni I am famous!

@Cyanide Believe me that if I would need to supply screenshots of anything to Apple for advertising of the app (if I will ever get permission to publish it), I promise you that it would be you on there. I promised I will feature you and I will feature you when the time comes!

@heyheni I was here to feel jealous.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot 😏

    Why @dfox doesn't allow you?
Can't it be an unofficial release @trogus 🤔
  • 1
@Floydimus yeah let's hope your dream of moving to europe suceeds.
So that you get to make your mates back home jealous with an iPhone 14 next year 😄

@heyheni hahaha I can easily afford iPhone. It's just I don't like Apple anymore as it's more of a status quo in India.

@Eklavya it would compete with dR on platforms dR is already available on. So it's cool to have a custom dR app on eg. UWP Windows, but not, say, Android or iOS.

Okay, who crashed the app at 4:20 PM Israel time and had 69% battery charge? It crashed on an iPhone 6S. Looks like it’s the same internal inconsistency issue from the last build, but I fixed it! So weird… Whoever crashed it needs to get in touch or send some feedback.
  • 1
@OmerFlame that was probably me 😄
but i don't have any more feedback as i didn't pay attention when it crashed, i just sent the report.

@heyheni Can I ask you to open the app, wait for 10 seconds and then close it? I need the app to log the crash to Sentry, and crash reports get sent only on the next session.

@RememberMe sadly, true. The iOS app is unstable and has some weird UI bugs. And there seems to be 0 interest in fixing it. It has been like that for many years now.

It could really use some competition.

I’m surprised that dfox is ok with Testflight. Or do you just assume?
  • 1
@Lensflare currently assuming since that the iOS App Store != TestFlight. TestFlight is based on invites, while the App Store is free for everyone.
