I think I'm getting crazy...
Yesterday evening I finally thought it was a great idea to set up Gitlab CI to let the server build (ng cli) and deploy (via FTP) an Angular5 SPA on commits on the master branch.
BUT...
The npm package "vinyl-ftp" thinks it is pretty fucking funny to just randomly stop in the middle of uploading files or just upload some files with 0 bytes in size.
WHAT THE HELL?
After some hate infested trial and error, it seems that the more parallel channels I set up, the more chance I get that all files are correctly uploaded, but never all.
If anybody here happens to be some kind of mighty byte bender and knows what to do, I'd be thankful. But I will probably try out a different client in the docker image...1 -
I'm faszinated by some dev's ability to write legacy code.
Not maintaining but plainly creating code so horrible, that it can be considered legacy.
I wrote a new API for a silly Application because the old one had hardly anything to do with rest. At all. And despite the code being only 2 years old, it was still unmaintainable.
Now that I'm finish with this task, i got the next generation of the angular Frontend.
A guy wrote a completely new version of the frontend in angular5.
Only untyped variables, no documentation, no tests at all, no idea whats going on where,....
I thought my job was to adjust a few URL's and change some DTO's, but now i have to refactor everything again...
And the pain continues.....3 -
I’ve seen so many articles about how over-complicated and hard Angular is and I still have no clue what they’re talking about? It’s not that hard wtf9

Fucking Visual Studio is such a piece of shit. 2 years ago we created a solution for our 7 webclients with 30 projects (clients, common stuff, tests, ...).
Things were ok, we could change something, save the file and everything was built and we just had to reload the client. Only F12 between the projects does not work.
But now the studio doesnt get shit done. Opening the clients solution after a clean checkout takes 5 minutes, saving doesnt build anymore, building breaks the project because it cant find references, rebuilding works but takes 3 minutes. When you have a syntactic error in a file the fucking thing almost crashes and becomes unresponse for a few seconds. It randomly shows errors in some files that disappear once you rebuilt it, sometimes it builds but still shows an error in that file.
But at least we will soon rewrite the clients in angular5 and dont need this piece of crap software anymore for the front end.
If I only could get my team to use another technology for the server so that I dont have to see this big pile of shit anymore. Fuck Visual Studio.2 -

Hi everyone, I'm just a bit worried with my future status, I'm currently a Software Engineer here in my home country, I will be going to New Zealand sometime this March. I have a reason why I'm moving to NZ but do you think I can get a Software Engineer job there? I'm 20 and been exposed by my Australian experience (I'm not from Australia btw) from Angular and PHP. I've been trained by my Seniors top notch that they're letting me deploy to-live our largest websites.
Do you think I'll be able to find one or I'll be settling with convenience store related jobs there?
Thanks DevRant.2
