I think I finally found a reason to have a phone with 8GB of RAM.
So that when TWRP craps out on data decryption and decides not even to ask for a password, at least I can push a whole fucking ROM into RAM to unfuck the phone. Because why not?! Why on Earth would software work properly when you can just throw more hardware at it?
Long live FBE, TWRP what craps out on it, and you remember those things.. SD cards for data storage? I could've used an unencrypted SD card so fucking badly right now, you know... Long live soldered in storage that's encrypted, "for security". Except for when the person who owns said data actually wants to use the bloody data.

I just got my third 128GB MicroSD card off Amazon, this time SanDisk. Yet again, trying to do anything not involving the OEM full-disk exFAT partition staying intact (which, fuck that, all that uses that is Windows and Linux, i'm looking for splitting this thicc bih up) shifts EVERYTHING, including MBR+PT/GPT down the disk by 16MB exactly inserting data from... the atmosphere? whatever's using it? ...do SD cards have that secure key/DRM store space thing still?
(EDIT: I do verify that they ARE genuinely the right size after purchasing before reformatting or repartitioning, by the way.)
First it was a Silicon Power card, then a Samsung card, now a SanDisk.
(Also, why all S?)
Luckily, this time it wasn't a pain in the ass to get it to read as anything but "Bad Card" or a 0-byte/empty/non-existent device in Windows/Linux (respectively) so I was able to see that it was indeed the same issue without taking 3 days to jump through device hoops to finally get it to do it again but in such a way that it shifts out and back in all zeroes.2 -
Why the fuck do SD cards always land on the floor dark-side up?! It's so fucking frustrating to find them!!7

Not strictly dev related...
I've been googling for minutes trying to find out the frigging sequential read speed for class 10 SD cards... I could only find the write speed and GAZILLIONS of SD ads.
It should be higher than write speed, right? I need this to give dd command the proper speed so I won't risk losing data (it's a backup) and I won't have to wait forever either. But I'm wasting more time looking up the frigging speed... I need dd cause it's a whole-disk backup (partition or file system seem damaged)
I can't rely on specs because I'm just not sure about the brand and model.
... Ah yes, fuck everything.4
