(Internal IT communication)
- Which one is the right email account for xxxx ? firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com?
- Yes, that's the correct one.5
So, some data need to be prepared during the summer and the diverse departments' elected data processors got shared in a Google spreadsheet they will need to fill with some basic data IT needs. Simple, straightforward data entry, with nothing private nor confidential. Just another divide-and-conquer-style large amount of data to enter & organise, that's all.
Today, I received a new comment notification as the owner of the spreadsheet. You can imagine my surprise when I saw that, for some f*cked up reasons, one of the guys just wrote the super-admin username & pw for one of the main data systems we use in a freaking comment in the spreadsheet... WTF...
Oh, and also, juuust in case, he also wrote the pin code that is normally required to pass through the device-check when you log-in as a super-admin from an unknown device and/or location.
Fortunately I could catch it on time, but this just ruined half of my day.
I am supposedly on freaking annual leave. Ha Ha. Ha.
I literally spent 3h looking at all the freaking formulas in my pathtracer which was producing the wierdest psychedelic images for no reasons... And then I finally found this... And I want to kill myself...18
That moment when you build a really cool webapp in under 2 hours for another department, you send the link to the head of the dept, and he replies few minutes later with just a link to a youtube MV... Tina Turner's 'Simply the Best' 😄😄2
I was talking to my wife about devRant tonight, and that at 20 +'s you get a sticker, and at 300 your get a stress ball, and she said : "Yes you already told me... I guess at 1000 +'s they'll give you a wife".
When that guy hovers his sharp ballpen over your retina screen while explaining his nonsensical and boring requirements and your eyes follow the pen anxiously and you just want to shout "Take that F*cking ballpen away from my screen you m*ron!" and slap his hand. Or his face. But you just can't do that, partly because he's your line manager.
When you realise a so-called app developer has used nvarchar columns to store every single date record, in every DB table of your platform.
Using d/m/Y format.
Without leading zeros.
And, in just a few tables, m/d/Y.
I open Photoshop, I open an image, I start editing colors. I think to myself "I need to change units to pixels instead of inches". I open the "Preferences - Units" menu. I approach the mouse and click on the selection box for units.... My screens go crazy suddenly and I get a BSOD...
The computer reboots, refuses to repair, complains it can't write on the disk. I launch UBCD, start TestDisk, it tells me my MFT and the mirror MFT are both completely messed up and the partition contents as well... Wow wow... What the...?!
Thank you Intel GFX system driver.
That moment when I realise why the CD of Ultimate Boot CD I have asked the tech team to burn for me does not boot... Because it *contains* the ISO file...5
