    @dfox doing front-end like a boss!

In case you can't find it, dark theme can be enabled from the logged in "..." top more menu / settings / Enable dark theme

Coming very soon: 1) subscribed users on sidebar 2) related users 3) notif type filters 4) rant type filters

Yay, fresh new clothes, I like it so far.

I think "Visit Store" Button on left sidebar slipped through...it opens register/login dialog on my side...

im happy to say i may have found the first bug: favorites is cut off
  • 11
@2nd2NULL thanks, that should be fixed now

@Floydian we will look into that, thanks

    @calmyourtities should be fixed, thanks
  • 7
Bro you made the site and you dont even have the tiger.... i respect.
  • 4
@fullsnack-dev your name has been my github bio forever now lmfao
  • 5
I think I found one too: one ++/-- section is highlihted other than the others 🤗
It might be due to highlight on mouseover on desktop but for mobile it's like "tap to focus" and it stays focused even when scrolling/tapping away.

@trogus @dfox Good job! I feel I was waiting for this more than anybody else, to finally be able to just add clientside functions, highly appreciated that you guys released it, looks great too!
  • 5
@dfox the server is kind of choking currently though
  • 5
@JoshBent DigitalOcean is choking hard past few hours, appears to be a larger issue they are dealing with
  • 9
@JoshBent thanks for the feedback, we hope everyone likes it and will continue to improve!

Unfortunately the release happens to have coincided with one of the worst DigitialOcean outages/problems in memory, more info here and on DO status page: https://devrant.com/rants/1255695/...

@moagggi thanks, mobile broswers dealing w hover states is often weird, I'll see about disabling them
  • 3
@dfox @trogus wow, what an awful timing 😶 wonder whats going on, the other regions seem to be fine
  • 5
@JoshBent they turned off droplet creation in all regions so it must be a bad issue (much of their system is probably dependent on the NYC region). They haven’t given any info about what the issue is so that’s annoying :/
  • 4
@dfox I feel last time the nodes went down they didnt really say much either, they are imho having the worst communication compared to e.g OVH
  • 4
This is a really nice outcome for all your efforts. devRant is the first social network I actually enjoy using.

    Really fantastic work!
  • 4
Looks beautiful, will check it thoroughly soon!
  • 4
I just noticed the url looks really cool!

    Yeah! new avatar!

    Wait... That part hasn't changed...
  • 2
I think that there would be cool to use a JS loader with the devRant logo
  • 2
    I have 2 more cents:

-Rants/Comments could be more distinguishable on Desktop.

I mean, there is just a thin line between rants/comments...

-Dark theme could be 10-20% darker.

    These are just subjective opinions

    @dfox

Alright, just started looking at the new look, it looks absolutely gorgeous!

I got few trivial things while i was checking the website.

    1. div class signup-email-container is shown twice, which contains few id elements (like password and email and such), dom rendering throws errors, saying ambiguous ids.

    2. if someone does not have avatar, then in notifs, the url for their avatar is with undefined (GET https://avatars.devrant.com/undefin... 404 (Not Found))

    3. div class="side-box box-notifs" is commented out, but is still populated. So you have two notifs blocks, one commented out and one which is being used (boldy-col1)

    4. No compression on traffic???

Ok, now this is amazing, 10/10
  • 3
I was shocked by the amount of BLINDING WHITE and then I found the dark theme. <3

Looking good so far, even though this will take some time to get used to.
  • 1
    Yaay
  • 3
@trogus Please remove the console.log, or hide an Easter egg in it. :D
  • 4
Nice! It has a great layout and easy to read :)
  • 3
    Amazing layout! Good job :)
I've tested it on my mobile, and it still looks gorgeous. Congrats!
  • 1
When opening up a notification in a new tab, it does not make the notification grey out. (The previous version did this.)
  • 2
Ho. Ly. Shit. Just wanted to check out a tweeted rant and bumped into this fancy new layout. Looks great so far!
  • 1
Substantially more usable in a tiling window manager.

However, I wish that the Add Comment button were visible at narrow resolutions.
  • 3
@TJourney yeah, I'll add in more responsive functionality
  • 2
Amazing! An actual desktop client rather than some phone emulators! Can't wait to study this layout and apply it to my personal client!

    Bravo guys! Well done!
  • 3
    Amazing!
  • 1
    Okay, got one, @dfox

The new layout doesn't respect multiple spaces. For example, see

    www.devrant.com/rants/1194689

The second line ("print(fmt, args, end="")") should be indented , but is not on the web app.
  • 2
well done! now thats cross platform ><
  • 2
    Sweet!
the old one was kinda space inefficient...
  • 1
    Looks quite pretty. Amazing work.
  • 2
    Needs more unicorns.

    (Good work btw)
  • 1
@trogus are we expected to find the black theme any time soon? :)
  • 2
    yummy

I think the font is too big though, especially in comparison to the ++ and -- buttons
  • 1
    fantastic!
  • 3
@tbodt the font is bigger in part because I know some of the colors have poorer readability contrast. It was a bolder choice with the background colors, and if people end up having too much trouble reading compared to the value of a unique looking post page, I'll figure out something more generic

Awesome work done guys. I'm loving the new site. ++ 😁👏👏👌
  • 1
I love it, but when you are writing a comment and you somehow missclick the 'Post' button your comment is deleted. On mobile app your comment is saved if you go back while writing a comment. So maybe before popouting comment dialog window just check if user typed something in textarea and if he is open simple confirm dialog?
  • 1
    Holy shit I love it
  • 1
If you click the Visit Store button on the left, it opens the signup modal. Please check that!
  • 0
    Hoooooooooooray!
  • 1
    @niennonno thanks, fixed
  • 1
    Rock'in guys! 😎
  • 0
    @trogus will give it a look 😎
  • 1
    Cooooool!!
  • 0
@Bitwise it’s the same way on the mobile apps too
  • 1
@Floydian we never had usernames or avatars on the rant feed. It’s always been because we want to encourage the viewing of good content by merit rather than was the username might be/who posted it.
  • 0
The delete button seems still not working atm. Is it a redundant feature?
  • 0
@trogus not sure if this is really an issue (because maybe not your target group) but login/register is not possible on IE11 and Edge.

    i'm getting a

    SCRIPT5002: Function expected

    script-v2.js (1378,5)

console error and there is no login/register overlay.

also every line break done by the enter key seems to insert a blank line in comments
  • 1
@rohbaert huh, totally forgot to test in IE. I'll take a look and see what can be done
  • 1
how can I finish my work now??
    great work though 👏
  • 2
    w00t super wide ranting
  • 2
Awesome! Can't wait to use it!
