God DAMN, abbie’s rant made me so fucking angry, I wanna kick someone

Comments
  • 2
    sorry but, who's that? and which rant are you talking about?
  • 10
    @JhonDoe there has been a large shitshow about 16 hours ago right here, I will send you a link.

    WARNING: EXTREME CANCER AND A SERIOUSLY BIG AMOUNT OF COMMENTS.

    https://devrant.com/rants/2948571/...

    Seriously, you will have a fucking aneurism.
  • 0
    @N00bPancakes look at the rant link I sent above if you are confused.
  • 1
    I saw it yesterday, before it completely took off. I wonder if it's all trolling..
  • 5
    @devdiddydog have you looked at his website? If he is a troll then I am actually setiously impressed.
  • 7
    @OmerFlame No, I missed that but found the link now. It definitely doesn't look like the work of a professional web developer, and at the age of 18 (if the stats are real) there is no way to gain enough knowledge to open your mouth about something as complicated as encryption and security. But you could be right: it might not be deliberate trolling, but it's strong opinions from someone with complete lack of knowledge. Either way, extremely frustrating!
  • 6
    Oh, one more thing: who takes advice about encryption and security from someone that blasts all his personal contact details including a picture online?
  • 1
    @devdiddydog EXACTLY MY POINT
  • 2
    @OmerFlame oh boi, i'm done... thx for sharing the rant.

    wasn't there someone, some time ago ranting about a guy that was a total impostor and a douchebag who had an open source project and whatnot... ? I think seeing theabbie website reminded me of that impostor/douchebag
  • 1
    @JhonDoe I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, I recently came back from a looooong hiatus from devRant so I probably missed something. Derp.
  • 1
    Did u read the entire thread
  • 9
    rant-ception!
  • 4
    That whole thing :O

    Someone had a thought, they probably should have realized they don't know what they're talking about and asked rather than spouted off.

    Somewhere there was a chance to ask and learn, but they choose not to.

    Everyone else should have given up way earlier.
  • 2
    @NoMad "from the creator of inception(not really)... rant-ception"

    You almost killed me with that one 😂😂😂
  • 0
    @scout of course not, but I got the grasp about it, I think like just first 100 comments
  • 1
    @scout I read to about the halfway mark. I couldn’t bare it anymore from then. He just full-on assaulted smarter people than him on the spot... it was actually kinda sad
  • 3
    Everyone in that thread be all:

    https://youtu.be/no0qB8CVspY
  • 0
    @N00bPancakes apt, accurate and to the point.

    Thank you good sir.
  • 7
    @devdiddydog If it was a troll, it was the most elaborate troll I’ve ever seen.
  • 0
    @MySlugLikesSalt nothing is better than Cicada 3301 (IF IT WAS A TROLL), but DAMN that was close
  • 6
    Honestly, can we stop harping on this already. Yes, he's a naive kid, but come on guys.
  • 2
    @RememberMe I don't think anyone would have thought twice about it had he just quit after he realized he didn't know.
  • 8
    I feel like we have done this already.
    Can we move on now or is this one of this famous posts that will never die 🙃
  • 1
    @C0D4 this is what Russians call “Vichnaya Pamyat” (endless memory). It was so bad that, well...

    Yeah, let’s try to not talk about it anymore.
  • 4
    @C0D4 remember that God forsaken front end vs backend meme that would literally be posted 12 times a day
  • 2
    @Stuxnet LMFAO I REMEMBER THAT
  • 8
    @N00bPancakes I wholeheartedly agree. But rants like this one are equally pointless imo. Yeah we all know he has no idea what he's talking about and he's argumentative without any basis or justification but I feel the backlash is getting a bit unnecessary at this point.

    Could be just me, don't mind me if you disagree.

    The dude is fairly young and just starting out, people learn over time. I can point to many young developers who don't even know the basics and sprout off absolute nonsense thinking they know stuff (I do it myself). (Though yeah, his manner of discussion leaves much to be desired)

    @C0D4 basically that.
  • 4
    @RememberMe Valid point, agreed.
  • 3
  • 2
    @RememberMe agreed.

    PS: I always @RememberYou
  • 4
    @NoMad Oh bug! Don't dare you dare bring that back!

    @C0D4 Yeah, new day new us

    @Stuxnet "how to exit vim #lmao #sofunny #airight"
  • 3
    Although, if heyheni is right and he really is a narcissist, then we (or rather, I) achieved nothing. Narcissistic personalities enjoy drama, and like to get everyone worked up. Like, we just gave him narcissistic supply.
  • 0
    @NoMad

    It is Kinda obvious that he is.
  • 0
    @Linux then why did you just start the same argument with him? Don't you feel sorry for him?
  • 0
    @NoMad

    I feel sorry for him, but since I grew up with someone that where a narcissist, a hardcore narcissist - I am kinda allergic to people like that.
  • 2
    I think he's just a classic egotistical "I know everything" teenager tbh. Though admittedly the whole "posting everyone's details online and claiming to be a security expert" thing was a bit much 😂
  • 1
    Man I have absolute bomb of a rant about him (no doxxing tho) and can’t wait to post it but 3h limit
  • 3
    @NoMad at least one person understands that mental disorders are real and narcissistic people don’t really change like that, a serious therapy required
  • 1
    Just read it.
    Heck, I usually take every opportunity to whack on apple, but damn this dude there is fucking dumb.
  • 4
    I’m choosing to believe it’s a highly effective troll because I prefer that truth more than the possibility of someone being that obstinate. Either way, it’s best to just not give him any more attention. May we all forget about the matter sooner rather than later.

    I feel like we have our new "Jase".
  • 1
    Since we're using memes to convey our emotions these days, this is more my vibe when someone asks a question, you answer it, and you realize they were trying to make a statement and not asking for information.
  • 2
    @Linux for future reference, I personally don't think you should make someone pay for something someone else did. You could sort your problems out with the narcissists that did hurt you instead of one drama and attention seeking young man on the internet. You don't know the consequences, and most likely someone else has to pay for it.

    I specifically feel sorry for his girlfriend. Like, that girl is really in dire need of being saved from that relationship. And I do feel sorry for him and I hope he starts therapy. Even though, considering where he lives, any form of realization means a damage to his closests relationships within family and he is not at that point yet to support himself without those relationships.
  • 0
    Anyone remember that time someone tried spreading that bill gates corona conspiracy theory on here?
  • 0
    Considering the latest development on that thread, what if he faked the whole "information leak"? I mean, he is still active. The behavior doesn't seem like one who is being punished for his fuck ups by his friends and family. 🤔 Is he in denial? I wonder what's going on over there right now...

    Somebody unplug my brain and curiosity please I'm going into overdrive mode... 😲
  • 3
    @NoMad Hmmm... I've been having the same thought. Though I just checked, and I received responses from seven people on that email list. Did he really register 64 email addresses and respond from seven of them as different people with distinctly different personalities, create a second devRant account, as well as build (then destroy) that entire website AND find fake addresses/phone numbers/photos for 64 random Indians? I don't know. It's possible. Just seems overkill.
  • 0
    @MySlugLikesSalt sure, but he's not the first criminal to go to lengths to commit a ridiculous crime. Specifically, it is usually said that all psychopaths are narcissists, while all narcissists are not psychopaths. Not only he has shown clear signs of narcissism, he lacked the empathy for the people whose personal photos and videos he shared. And that creepy list of height and weight plus the racist blogs... All in all, he seems like a developing psychopath tbh.
  • 0
    @MySlugLikesSalt also, I know I'm occasionally paranoid, but don't those numbers, 64 and 7, seem a bit specific to you?
  • 1
    @NoMad I'm not saying it isn't possible. Just seems rather incredible to me. Especially since I was still receiving emails from some of the people at 3:00 AM my time, while the whole thing unfolded around 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM my time (does the guy ever sleep, if it's all him?)

    How do you mean about the numbers?
  • 1
    @MySlugLikesSalt emails could be scheduled. dR posts can't be tho. But if he can post via api, even that is workable.

    The numbers, they just don't seem coincidental.
  • 2
    @NoMad Hmm. True. Though I feel like a couple things would have been different. I feel like he'd have tried to mess with me a bit with the emails, just to keep things going. I also feel like he'd have refused to remove the site. After all, if it's all fake data, why not keep the pot boiling? The one thing that would support your theory is the fact that he posted his "whoever sent that email blast" comment VERY shortly after I sent it, which could potentially indicate that HE received the emails. Either that or his classmates are super fast-acting. Sure, I commented that I had sent it, but then why act like he didn't know who it was unless he missed the comment... I don't know. This is at least keeping me from the crap happening IRL for me so it's fun to theorize lol
  • 0
    @MySlugLikesSalt actually, there is one thing that will put my mind to rest: the timestamp of those emails.

    No psychopath likes pure coincidence. Specially if he went to lengths to make it specific numbers. So, is there any real pattern in the timestamps? (like, something that could suggest a sender bot, or them being written one after another?)
  • 0
    @NoMad You got an email address you wanna share? I'd be glad to forward them.
  • 0
    @MySlugLikesSalt nah, I trust your opinion. Plus, I have enough experience with real life sociopaths and I really don't want to get myself involved. (that's the best policy for dealing with those who refuse therapy)
  • 1
    @NoMad Here, let me do this:

    Person 1: 10:52, 11:13, 11:26
    Person 2: 11:17, 12:00, 12:33
    Person 3: 11:22, 11:28, 11:50, 11:56
    Person 4: 11:36, 11:47, 11:48, 12:10, 12:11, 12:34, 13:47, 13:48, 14:12, 14:31, 14:50, 15:54
    Person 5: 1:05
    Person 6: 3:19

    Seems random to me lol but have fun
  • 1
    @NoMad Also looks like I was wrong about that 7 number, must have miscounted.
  • 1
    @NoMad No wait I *was* right. A seventh person emailed me in a new thread at 11:39.
  • 0
    @MySlugLikesSalt aight. Let's call the investigation off. He can't possibly compose an email in under two minutes between two different characters. so yeah, they're probably different people.
  • 1
    @NoMad Yep, I checked the email headers as well and they came from different IP's. As intriguing as that would be, I feel like it really did unfold exactly how it seems.
  • 0
    @MySlugLikesSalt do you have discord? #DoYouWannaBuildASnowman? #DoYouWannaBeFriends?
  • 1
    @NoMad yeah. Same username
  • 0
    @MySlugLikesSalt need the number thingo after the # too 😛
  • 0
  • 0
    @NoMad

    Sorry, but I dont need you to comfort or act like a phyciatrist for me. Enough people has already tried to give advice with actually knowing the background.
  • 1
    @Linux Your feelings are valid.
    But still, it doesn't make it ok for you to make someone else pay for it.
  • 0
    I know it's too late to say this (as I didn't know this conversation was going on)

    I want to clear many things out,

    First, @NoMad and @MySlugLikesSalt, No, This is not some psychological thriller movie, those were actual emails and They responded pretty fast. I apologized in Bulk.

    And, @NoMad and @Linux, I am not a psychopath or Narcissistic. When the rant started, I just replied to all comments, and then suddenly many people started showing interest and it grew incredibly fast. Amid so many comments I might have said things I didn't mean to.

    And, I did the mistake (potential crime) of disclosing private info, I regret that more than anything. I just want you all to forget that, I have realised my mistake.

    I am not so good with Internet arguments. So, forgive me if that caused any damage. But, please don't hate me. Even Of I make valid arguments, people don't accept it (for eg. @iiii and @uyouthe).

    Thank you all for teaching me a lesson. I am a new person now. Please forgive me.
  • 1
    @theabbie see a psychiatrist 😛 I am not going to talk to you again, unless you do that.
  • 0
    @NoMad Even after all this justification?
  • 0
    @theabbie the thing is, you don’t want to listen to people who are much more experienced than you.

    You have realized that you made a mistake and that is a step in the right direction.

    You kept saying completely wrong things thinking you know what you’re saying when more experienced people that actually have a job in that field tell you that you are wrong. Accept your mistakes and learn about the topic before spreading misinformation.

    PLEASE.
  • 1
    @OmerFlame That's why I apologized. I could have deleted the rant but I think it would be important for others.
  • 1
    @theabbie thank you! A learning developer is a good developer.
  • 0
    @OmerFlame So, If everyone could declare that they have forgiven me, that would be really great, especially @uyouthe, @iiii and @F1973. Most important, @Root and @Linuxxx as they are very experienced in the field.
  • 1
    @theabbie in my opinion, formal verbal forgiveness is meaningless, as words lie. And guilt which is releaved by formal forgiveness is not that effective as a mechanism for preventing unwanted behavior.

    If you think you've learned something, that's good. But begging for forgiveness isn't right in my book.

    Or maybe I'm that sort of asshole. Who knows. Certainly not me. 🤷‍♂️
  • 0
    @iiii You mean you want to forgive me but can't
  • 0
    @theabbie I mean I don't have anything to forgive you for in the first place.
  • 0
    @iiii Then @uyouthe is left because she said she doesn't want to hear any argument from me
  • 1
    @theabbie I think forgiveness is linked to personal pain and such and as far as this goes it is nothing personal so I can't really forgive you imo 😄

    I just hope you learned something, continue to do so and ask people like me and @Root to provide information when questions or rants arise!
  • 0
    @linuxxx Thank you so much sir 😊
  • 0
    @theabbie Perhaps if you learn from your mistakes and change your behavior accordingly. Not until.
  • 0
    @Root Great, it will take time though
  • 2
    I'm not mad, I just suffer from depression and my psychiatrist told me that aside from quitting smoking and taking meds I should apply a heavy filter on the information I consume. And I already quit smoking. So better safe than sorry I guess

    @theabbie on an unrelated note if you want to find a job you're welcome to dm me at t.me/uyouthe, I think helping people is more important than potential risks of reading what you type
  • 0
    @uyouthe Shit, I didn't know you are already so fucked up. Thanks for asking, It means a lot.
  • 1
    The pot calling the kettle black 🤣🤣🤣
  • 0
    @NoMad what does that mean? O_o
  • 0
    @iiii are you 9yo?
  • 1
    @uyouthe I'm not familiar with that expression.
  • 2
  • 0
    @iiii that 9yo thing was a reference
