    You are describing a desktop.

Don't take a 17"+ laptop. You'll regret it. It won't fit in any decent bag or backpack. Take 15" at most. I know I would if I could turn back time. When you're at home, just plug in that 27" monitor on your desktop.

I agree with @kanduvisla. Get a 15" laptop with ultra screen resolution instead of some crappy 1024x760 17".

    Alienware or Dell XPS 15

You don't need 1TB SSD, it will just inflate the price. I have more than enough with 256GB but you shouldn't take more than 500GB

@aleks9 sorry I didn't made my self clear, I want a 1 TB for files and stuff and a SSD for OS

@kanduvisla I've used them both and I don't care of the inconvenience, I do like big screens

So I'm think about this one, what do you think? https://amazon.com/dp/B015XBK5NM/...

17" screen is huge and heavy to carry around. I'd go 15" max, the SSD seems excessive but if you think you need that much space on a portable device then cool.

This screams of a DELL workstation.

Actually we won't be able to give you a decent answer without you letting us know what this laptop would be used for.
17" is quite a lot for a laptop. Unless you really need all that space on your scene.you can also get away with a high res display at 15"

If they are loose files like pictures, vids, etc why not use an external hard drive later rather than factor the cost in now.

I recommend anything but MSI multiple broke in my school within 3 months

Wait a few months and get XPS 15 with Kaby Lake.

You should be able to install Linux and get the hardware working g on it without issues, if you are *NIX head.

I love my 17" laptop. I have a sweet backpack that fits it nicely. It meets all the specs mentioned except the SSD, though you can always install that yourself. Mine is an HP 17-y018ca.

I7 6700QM and GTX 960m as videocard if you play some games sometimes. If you don't need videocard, BUILD ONE YOURSELF. There is a company called BTO where you can put one together.

@kanduvisla Nah that's just not true. I have a very decent waterproof backpack that I use to take my 17.3 inch laptop to work. Has extra compartiments for tablets and some other useful things. Yes, it's a bit heavy but you'll get used to it, I did anyway.

I have a 17.3 inch with 16 GB RAM, 512 SSD and 1 TB HDD. Core i7 and a decent graphicscard as well. I love it. It's a bit heavy to carry around but I love its powerful performance and speed.

Thank you all, the laptop would be used to code, mainly, sometimes I've to debug on visual studio and Android studio at the same time, so my current laptop struggles a lot.

The SSD is because I want 3 OSs, each with a partition, the HDD is for files, and programs.

And the 17 is because is like it hahaha.

    Happy Holidays
