Dutch DevRant meeting was awesome! Talked a lot, had quite some drinks, had pizza and just fun in general!

Let's just all admit that almost every get-together of any IT-related group is a huge sausage fest. I witnessed it not so long ago. A conference about AI, with tons of people, all of them dudes. What the fuck? How is that even normal? When I'm at such events I feel like a fuckin' dork. Like how fucking BAD, ugly, obnoxious, repelling can we be, that not a single girl can bare to be in the same room with us listening to that interesting talk? It makes me feel guilty, inadequate and weird.

There are hopes I guess, that at least newer communities will feel less awkward.

What is the appropriate way to talk about this problem? More guilt-tripping? Fuck no!

You! All of you girls! You see a conference, you GO there, listen, take notes, have fun, present something, enjoy the lunch, make us feel more human. Please?

@diheich Liking girls isn't bad but there's a time and place for everything. If a girl wants to get hit on she will go to the bar with her girlfriends. When she goes to a dev meeting maybe she just wants to network professionally. And if girls posted photos on devrant there is a high possibility they would be stalked by creeps. I never understood the appeal of the programmer girl. I prefer having someone that drags me away from the computer now and then.

Why is there even the need to justify any of this? The people reveal as much from there face as they are confortable. For some it's full face reveal, for some none, for some partial, for some temporary and whatnot.

@JoshBent some people enjoy being in the picture to show they were there, otherwise I could have just taken any of the existing stressball photos. I took that picture for my own enjoyment. I cut most of it off to not make it obvious it is me in the picture so I could post it without directly linking my own face to my devrant account. that's all. I deleted it now because I do not like having this discussion, I come here to vent/find positivity, not to have discussions over something stupid like a picture.

Filling someone else's words, talking not nice towards people etc is not considered nice.

Let's just enjoy being in such an awesome community. Sometimes, going too personal doesn't work out well. Someone had a decision and it's on them. Analysis them won't bring any conclusions.
Instead, why not celebrate @linuxxx achievement to reach 60k (the 2nd devranter to achieve it) and forget about all these conversations.
All of us will be happy including you, me and others. Happiness is what we all want when we spend our good and bad times with DevRant and devranters.
Edit: as linuxxx mentioned, let's have constructive discussions and respect each other. That's how, we grow into a bigger and better devrant community
