Hey everyone in all seriousness I am gonna be out of the dev field now - hopefully forever. I’m back in school now and hopefully will become employed in emergency response. Before dev, I have had jobs where I could directly help people with their troubles and I could reduce a lot of chaos. I really enjoyed it and I want to kind of steer my life back towards that. I find that while I was an employed dev, I felt like I was contributing a lot towards corporate greed, this wealth gap problem, and a bunch of other stuff. It all felt morally wrong (to me - not judging here). I also felt the worse I have ever felt in a job - constantly burned out, depressed, lonely, sleep deprived, and almost even ashamed of myself of how I constructed my life thus far. I had some good times meeting some cool ass people in some cool ass places tho.

Now, even though I’m still sleep deprived and EXTREMELY poor, I’m very happy now. I am excited to start this thing I’m more passionate about. It feels good to not feel my head hurt every day from trying to fix shit that will always break anyways. I feel so relieved to be away from the meaningless turbulence of it all. Just wanted to share my lil success here!!

Senior management just had a covid opening up party, streamed it on YouTube in the middle of the office with not a single person wearing a mask or social distancing. Encouraging employees to come back to working in the offices.

I AM FUCKING DONE. IM DONE.

It hasn't been a week since one of our employees died and these were the same people who emailed the team asking to donate towards the bereaved family.

This isn't even a rant. It baffles me that narcissistic bullshit like this is legal. How can anyone be that fucking stupid? Just how. Explain this shit to me. Because these aren't total assholes. They're generally nice people outside of work. Why is it that anything touched by corporate greed gets corrupted to the point of inhumanity.

LLMs will FIX the internet, not ruin it; an argument:

Sam Altman recently acknowledged the large presence of LLMs on twitter and stated that he was finally starting to believe in dead internet theory.

And I couldn't agree more nor be any happier.

I had a sudden realization that social media has slowly crept from being "connect to your friends" to "try not to commit suicide as you climb the infinite social ladder amongst people who are not your peers"

... and I think it deserves to die. Furthermore, I think the only thing that could kill it is the greed that we're seeing finally strangle social media today.

People will never quit social media just because it's *bad for them*. It's too exciting, too interesting.

People will only quit social media if it itself becomes *bad*.

And when it becomes overbearingly full of corporate "brand personalities", LLM slop accounts churning out 500 posts a day to gain $4 in ad revenue, and 100 different AI bot accounts that add nothing to the conversation...

... that's when it's gonna be *bad* enough for people to reduce their usage of it. It will once again encourage the spaces we had before greed took a strangle-hold. Private areas for just you and your real-life friends. To be safe from the corporate slop bots, the LLMs, the 8-second videos of kittens performing impossible tasks... just you and your buds keeping up with each other.

This is the self-healing that nature is so good at. It's incredible how it always happens.

I absolutely love how capitalism fell on its face when greed went far beyond anyone's imagination.

Corporate wants all the money to themselves and wants to give out as little to us peasants. Housing prices went beyond most people's reach. Banks almost never gives loans. Inflation and interest rates are up everywhere.

So now people are like "Alright I'll live in this rented flat and not have any kids" and now the birth rate is the lowest in the last 50 years and this is reducing the size of the talent pool for these companies.

I saw an interview of Elon Musk where he went like "We don't have an over-population problem, but its actually an under-population problem.", and this is the first thought that struck my head.

What rich people don't understand, is if they want to be rich and stay rich, a significant amount of people have to stay poor. And due to low birth rates, this isn't going to last long.

Seeing all the office buildings and the goons of all upper management all burn to a crisp. They are very quickly reminded of their oppression and sociopathic values they have pushed onto the populous. In a perfect world, all the corporate scum who never considered once the detrimental effects of the poison they leech into the air, water, and blood of every creature on earth all should die horrible deaths. Fuck every single one of these blood sucking vampires who’s practice is only for the greed of their personal pleasure, jacking off to how many ways they can seize power from the individual.

What kind of innovation approach has helped humanity in a better way? Is it some group of obscure indie devs working overnight to write some software which is free, useful and purposeful devoid of licensing shit or the too-honorary-to-shit-from-arse organizations which put marketing gimmicks like making world better place and which compromise user data either to governments or to other corporations for monetizing given the first chance. If innovation is happening in both the spectrums then what is the viable kind of required innovation at the moment for us humans. IMHO I don't trust corporate innovation and shitty innovations happening in Facebook, Google and likes. Has corporate greed bought innovation for market price.
