Why do I keep seeing children in every workspace I go to..? I can admit that I'm childish at times but... and this is just life advice?
Don't lie. Don't cry when you don't get your way. Don't claim I am lying when I prove you wrong.
Don't make a false accusation. You ALMOST LOST YOUR LIFE TODAY with that bullshit. One more word from your mouth to tarnish my reputation with a good group of people in that manner and frankly, I would've shot you dead in front of everyone.
Short version of the story behind this rant:
Someone accused me of sexual harassment because I (I wish I was joking about this) held the door for a female employee that works with me. I brushed off the bullshit that happened at the door but the customer went to the manager who, as a result, nearly fired me and sent me to court.
Fortunately we have a camera at the entrance which disproved the allegations of "he grabbed my ass while I walked through the door" and our security guard is a badass and kept the tape.19
Foday my father argued with me that:
* "HTML programmers" get payed a lot
* WordPress is awesome
* wordpress programmers get payed a lot
* WordPress doesn't need to be secure
* FileMaker is 100% virus-free (probably malware free), because not many people use it
* UX and UI design are exactly the same6
After spending a whole day "user proofing" a new module I realized something: why do I even bother with all the additional work?
Why you might ask?
A little anecdote...
At least twice a month I get a call that someone deleted - by accident- a patient in their practice management software.
Fun thing is, it's hidden behind multiple tabs and buttons - and you literally have to type in "yes, I want to delete this patient".
Asking how this could happen - by accident - yields a "I didn't know this would delete the patient".
And I really wish I was joking...but it happened just last week..again :-D5
So, my challenge for this year is to build a CMS, CRM and ERP system from scratch in my free time with Python and Django.
I need to get deep in with Python and I figured this is a good way to do it. I'm going to roll my own analytics and whatever else I possibly can. Hell, what I'd really like to do eventually is do away with Django and have it as a standalone product with zero dependencies. But one thing at a time.
Here's to a good future where I finally fucking commit to finishing a project!1
