After spending a few months on this site, what strikes me the most, is how unhappy a lot of programmers are.
It kind of makes me sad to see so many of you struggle with office politics bullshit everyday.
I have a confession to make.
I've never had a programming job, or freelanced, yet I have made a very comfortable living with programming and marketing for the past 20 years.
I make my living by finding niches where there is shit software, and creating a better alarm clock.
The first 5-10 years of doing this, I worked my ass off (throughout my twenties)
But during most of my thirties, I barely had to
work to keep it all up. I get residual income still
from stuff I did 10 years ago.
I'm curious if anyone at all would be interested in learning how to do this, quitting their job, for example, or, just having the freedom to write your own code without answering to anybody but your own customers. Many of whom you never have to talk to, they go to your site, they buy, and rarely ever send emails (if you do it right)
Everybody here has knowledge that is so bankable, yet they seem to just surrender to
asshole bosses and clients. It doesn't have to
be like that.
If you'd be interested in this, please ++ this.
I'm thinking of creating an online course about creating and marketing your own software, specifically for programmers like you guys. and girls.
I genuinely just want to see if there's interest. I hope that's ok.63 -

One of my most frequent coding errors is putting e before I in function calls because my understanding of English spelling is worse than my code 🤣3

Just got my Linux dev environment set up, even got an alias working that would launch all the software I needed to test my code. Then today decided to change primary drives. At least I know how to set it back up next time, right?2

There are so many viruses out there that claim to be automatic windows driver updaters that I'm beginning to wonder if legit ones exist at all! Anyone have any experience with the real deal?4

Almost out of highschool, looking at the requirements for programming jobs is terrifying. I can't afford college but almost every job needs a bachelor's. Hoping for a company that sees the value of training from the base level5

Trying to set up and begin a project in laravel has been the worst environment setup experience I've ever had.6

Through pain, sweat, tears, sickness, blood, and endless confusion between Linux system and windows system configuration, and finally learning the fundamentals of a new language, I have officially broke ground on a new project. Here's to hoping it doesn't end in GitHub hell with the rest

The joy of getting laravel finally configured on my new machine is just the best. I think I scared my boyfriend fist pumping so hard3

I was setting up a network minutes server. Install, check for updates, reboot, and the grub entries for the os are gone. Atleast I still have memtest

Whatever be the current trend on Linked-In, at the end of the day the product development life cycle remains quite the same.
Still, as developers which general domains in software do you think would flourish in the near future?
My picks (not in order) -
>> Cyber security : automation, both offensive and defensive
>> Block chain : trustable data platforms
>> Applied AI : a few key models, applied to all niches, bettering existing UX
>> IOT : wearables, embeddables, smart appliances
>> AR : Navigation prompts, real time info about real life objects
>> VR : Immerse entertainment. (Metaverse 🤮)
>> Quantum computing : first gen costly commercial releases, new algos
What would you add or subtract from this?1 -
Solved a seeder issue this morning that has been plaguing me since Sunday. Glad to know I just hadn't refreshed composer, and my code was functional 😥

Why every time Adsense reject my website
At first, due to not finding the URL, because at the same time I was handling the server
Then, Some errors in the AdSense code.
And now, they are not finding any quality content.6 -
Felt really good yesterday and today having a fresh enivronment to work on my code in. I may not know much about my framework, but I'll be damned if I don't know how to figure it out.
