Professors today in colleges don't know...
1. the proper denominations of outputs of basic shell commands like "ls -l", "cat", "cal" (pronounces linux as laynux)
2. how memory management works
3. how process scheduling actually takes place and not in the outdated bookish way.
4. how to compile a package from scratch and including digital signatures
5. cannot read a man page properly, yet come to take OS labs.
6. how to mount a different hardware
7. how to check kernel build rules, forget about compiling a custom kernel.
Yet we are expecting the engineers who are churned out of colleges to be NEXT GEN ?!
It is not entirely because of syllabus, its also because of professors who had not updated their knowledge since they got a job. Therefore they cannot impart proper basics on students.
If you want things to change, train students directly in the industry with versions of these professors UPDATED.7
Update syllabus with latest technologies instead of teaching some outdated language which has no practical use in the market.
In my native language the word Java means Week, so a couple of years ago when the second year of uni started there was an introduction to the distributed programming class and the professor had made some slides to present the syllabus. It went

Java 2 ...
Java 3 ...
Java 7 ...
Java 8 ...
Until here it was all good, then came this
Java 9 ...
Java 10 ...
Java 11 ...
Java 12 ...
Java 13 ...
Java 14 ...

Is it weird that I'm doing Electrical and Electronic Engineering but I HATE it and love programming? I know I should find a balance between the two but I just can't seem to. The worst part is that the syllabus hasn't been updated for eons so we are learning about outdated technologies. Ooh, and you can't declare majors until like the final year, I think. I could quit but it would break my parents' hearts, and we are not rich enough to afford a self-sponsored CS course. The worst part is that I'm not even a good programmer, I'm trying so hard to balance the two that I end up not being good at any.5
The ocr a level in the UK is properly messed up - it's beyond outdated and irrelevant, with very little programming involved. The GCSE is even worse - this year they literally removed all programming (coursework) - like how is that supposed to teach you anything relevant? The GCSE from the year before was much more relevant, though still not perfect, as it had much more of a focus on programming and development. But hey, what can you do? The education system will do what it wants. All we need is to get people from the industry to create exams and the syllabus, to help ensure they are more relevant. I ranted on a bit but hey, hopefully we can change it for the future generations, as I find there are very few kids interested in programming these days. Here's to change
I hate when studying computer engineering but university want us to learn non technical subjects or outdated topics such as applet in java, who the fuck is using applets now days,

There is a University in Karnataka, India called VTU, whose exam paper re-evaluation fee costs more than the exam fees, moreover they'll fail you to make money.
Syllabus remains outdated from a decade or two. You'll be considered great if you managed to mugup the stuff for exams to take ranks.
If anyone relies on it's syllabus, then it's decided that they're gonna be the donkey among whom it produces every year.
You'll only become a true engineer if you realise this truth and seek the real educational resources online.
I saved myself by dropping off the college an year ago, which was the best thing I've ever done. I can make as many projects I can (fullstack web).
