HOW TO KILL A DEVELOPER
Coworker: Hey, is http://website down for you?
Me: yeah. What's up?
Coworker: Ah, that explains why my tests are failing.
Me, internally fuming: It would be good test practice to not depend directly on external services.
Coworker: I know, but this is easier.
This makes my blood boil. I'm not a huge fan of mocking and stubbing everything, but when it's actually very easy to mock something and you're too lazy, that makes me fucking angry.
Remember kids: doing it right takes longer than doing it wrong. But doing it wrong will eventually take significantly more of your time. Just wait until your shitty assumptions fail and you don't have any recourse.6 -
Ilove wordpress, its small, fast and easily configurable and very enjoyable to work with and maintain.
I also like pineapple on my pizza, stubbing my toe and getting ran over by a truck.11 -
I just wrote this stub function for my test and thought it was a bit ridiculous and had to share.
A function that returns a function that returns an object with just one function6 -
I needed to do some brainstorming for a starting point to connect Monday.com to some middleware so I can send assets in Monday.com to another server for providing status reports to non-Monday.com users. So, I fired up Anthropic Claude 3.7 Sonnet and asked it to give me some ideas of where to begin. It seems to have done really well stubbing out some starter code and a basic architecture for this system. Except for one thing. The system architecture diagram. Anyone know this language?5
